2006 wheel rules - stock classes

Well it looks like 'group buy' season is upon us and one of the proposed rule changes from the workshop will have a significant impact on my decisions on wheels, tires and what class to run. I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

I am, of course, referring to:

Wheel Sizes in Stock Classes
• Should the sizes of wheels be limited to 1” increase in width or diameter in Stock classes? The Solo 2 Director will consult with the CAC TAC on this.

My first question on this would be: Is the word "increase" correct here, or should it say "change"?

My second question is: Is the "or" in "width or diameter" intended to mean you could change one dimension or the other but not both?

My third question is: What did the CAC TAC say on this and will it be in effect for 2006?

FWIW, I've supported the SCCA stock class wheel rules in the past, but have tended to be a voice in the wilderness. :D

Its on page 6, 2/3rds of the way down.

I'm sure the rulebook will be out sometime in 2006......

Of course, if I know the process as well as I think I do, Jason has already reviewed it and submitted 12-18 suggested changes by now...... :D

for the record I haven't seen a draft copy yet... As far as I know it's still with CAC TAC and they are taking their time with it.

I sure hope they look at and consider 2007's rule book in November and get it out before the start of 2007, like what the SCCA does. (I think thats one of the main benifits to using their rules, if allowed, we'd know they well ahead of time of any changes.)

but hey I don't think stock class rules are going to change but I've been wrong before ... I think the major changes will be in SS or Mod... I can't get into specifics but those classes have been the most talked about at the solo 2 commitee meetings (although nothing was set in stone still waiting for CAC TAC to set out a rule book)

Well that would make Civics absolutely useless in H-stock. You can't stuff the smallest 710 in a 5" rim and there's no point running any other tire.

Don't worry too much,if a substancial rules changes keep us out of regionals there's ton's of club events we can have our own little mini battles. ;)
