Where will I find the best place to get 275/40 Kumho Victoracers this year?
I ordered from The Tire Rack last year, and the price was $1021 Canadian, delivered. But I want to get them heat-cycled and shaved before I get them this year... :)
try Andreas at Oshawa Tire or Talon Tire in Montreal. My Dad and Caius both got excellent service and pricing from Talon Tire. My Dad was totally astounding by the level of professionalism there. When he arrived they have 4, count em!, 4 technicians jack up each corner of the car, remove the stock tires/rims in true pitstop fashion, mount his new Kuhmos on some rims he brought with him, and mount the new set for heat cycling on the drive home to Ottawa. All told, his visit lasted no more than half an hour. Now that's service! And they even shipped in 1 of the Kuhmos from Vancouver because they could only locate 3 in the size needed locally. Good peeps, then Talon Tire folk =)
I'll look up the phone number for Talon Tire if you want it.
Cheers,
Dave

But wait there's more.
The service at Talon Tire is trully awesome. Check this out.
When they mount your new wheels on the car they hand torque them. First one technician walks around, torque wrench in hand, torques all the wheels. As he does this, he puts a little red sticker on the sidewall of the tire to show that it's done.
Then...a second tech comes by with a different torque wrench and double checks that everything has been torqued properly. He puts a second sticker on the sidewall.
Then...they go into your trunk and check the air pressure on your spare tire to make sure that you're okay there to.
When I went there to pick up my tires I needed some hub centric rings, which I didn't have, for my new wheels. They started calling around the local aftermarket shops and then sent out a tech to pick them up for me.
Yeah. Totally awesome. Super friendly too.
Then again, they're the authorized wheel/tire shop for Ferrari Quebec.
Yup, Talon is a class act. I get mine shipped in to a local shop for mounting, the saved taxes make it about the same price.
The added incentive is Talon and Kumho will hopefully be providing some contingency money to StLAC this year for solo 2 as they already do to MCO.
So give Howard a call. http://www.talontire.com/index.html
I also owe Andreas at Oshawa tire a big favor. He really helped me out once at Mosport when I arrived with a large nail protruting from a Toyo.
You probably wouldn't go wrong with either shop.
