The date change put me out of it as my wife and I were heading to Scotland on 4 August for 10 days with one of her suppliers.
She told me I could join up on a later flight! Whoo hoo!

Just wondering what the community thinks of 1st year'ers entering this event. I'm an AutoSlalom rookie (just completed my first event this past weekend), but I do hope to have a few more events under my belt by the time August rolls around. It looks like this is an open entrance event, in that I just have to sign up and I'm in - however, would I be seen at taking a spot from someone more deserving? I would fully expect that I would be lagging well behind the tail end of the competative group.
So, does seat time rule all and I should enter because I can, or should I sit back and just enjoy the show? (I'm from TO, so dropping by all three days is a good possibility).
Appreciate any and all feedback.

I attended the nationals in my novice year, I managed to get in about a half dozen events before I attended the nationals that year.

however, would I be seen at taking a spot from someone more deserving? I would fully expect that I would be lagging well behind the tail end of the competative group. The announcement for CNAC was posted on every forum the SPDA could find, including U.S. websites. I would think "the most deserving" are the ones with enough foresight to sign up before the event is full.
I say go for it! You'll get to run on a fantastic lot, learn from some of the best competitors on the continent, and you might even surprise yourself! Though there are no refunds, Sign-ups CAN be transferred if you can't for some reason attend.
Next year, you don't want to find yourself saying, "Boy, I wish I had the (gumption) to try the Nationals when they were right in my backyard..." ;)

Dyno Truth or Dare!!
How about having some fun with a 2WD dyno. Now's your chance for some bragging rights.
Japanese Auto will be bringing their Dynapac Dyno to the CAC this year. At the venue, they will be providing tuning information as well as live dyno sessions. The Dynapac Dyno is complete with A/F readings so you can check the state of tune for your car.
There is a slight charge to dyno your car, but it's also your chance to confirm what you've been feeling.
Bring a group of friends, and play Dyno truth or dare!
Make your best guess as what the readings might come out as, and if you get within 5 hp, of the actual plot, earn extra discounts.
Thanks to http://www.japanese-auto.com for supporting the CAC and the motorsports community.
Register Today to be part of the action!!

sure if we have a Douro sized Course you can run whatever you'd like in FSS :p
of course if we have anything else... I'd gte my ass kicked...
As for only 3 people in FSS.... maybe I dominated at the nationals last year by such a large margin everyone else is scared....
quite frankly, I'm more scared of Steve then myself. although I haven't beat myself yet at this sport the Ties I've had against myself in every event means that it could go anyway. Maybe this will be the first time I beat myself...
Anyways Good Luck out there Steve, I know you can hand my ass too me....

Mmmmm, it would be really nice to see a few more people from Ontario sign up for the Nationals, since it is actually being held in Ontario and Toronto no less.
There really won't be that much more compitition than running an Ontario Regional as we all know that Ontario has the best drivers..... :)
Come out and play!!! You have competition from SCCA, Quebec, Western Canada, Maritimes, and some local folks.
Let's show the country who's the best.
Here's where we stand at the moment, and registrations have heated up in the last couple of days. Seems like people have waited until the last minute, never the less, it looks like a great time will be had by all.

Are you sure?
I think technically, you can only move up your "family tree" (ie: CS Miata can run in CS, CSS, CSP, C-Mod).
Although, I suppose if the PAX factor you're moving to is higher than your actual one (ie: going to ASP in an FSP car) that should be ok.
But what do I know?
When looking at the rules, its the rules that matter not logic. Logic should be used when creating or changing them.

Doesn't the class listing say the the Z06 isn't eligable for Stock Class in the National rules?
So it has to go into ASS?
craig
07-28-2006, 04:10 PM
The rule is 2006+ Z06's aren't eligible; the Z06 that is coming is a 2004.
It doesn't matter much anyhow, as there isn't much difference in PAX between SS and ASS.

It's funny how there can be two club events and a regional on the same day drawing a total of 150 competitors, most from the GTA, but when there is an important national event they all run and hide from the real competition.

well Wes, it's because they might actually have to prove and back up some of that trash talking over the years...
the best in the nation are coming and the GTA guys run and hide for cover.
you can't win a national title if you don't enter.
or put another way:
the First step to winning a national title is filling out the entry form for the event.

I can't wait to Hoist the second F-Super stock National Championship above my head in a glorious victory Dance....
2nd national championship here I come....
(ok so I had to do some trash talking as well.)
Hmmm, well, it turns out that I really can't beat Tong in CS, but I've got this fresh set of 710s on my Honda hub-centric 13s, and Pete says he's not using his FSS Civic. Maybe I could borrow it and come play in FSS for nationals? :D
I couldn't be bothered trash talking other competitors, just the lazy assed wannabes that have yet to register from the GTA......
It's funny how there can be two club events and a regional on the same day drawing a total of 150 competitors, most from the GTA, but when there is an important national event they all run and hide from the real competition.
WiMPs! :D
LOL, you guys are great. We have a legend coming up from the states, quite a six shooter apparently, Billy Brooks will be campaigning in ESP, so Hummmm Mustangs, Camaro's and other WRX's have their work cut out for them.
See ya'll there!!

Oh, one more thing... Please be courteous to the models coming out to take publicity shots in front of your cars. A professional firm is coming out to take shots, and they are bringing out lots of first class talent. They require volunteers to surrender their cars, and or be part of the photo shoot.
Muahahahahahahahaha...

The more the merrier.
No trash talking from me. I'm going to come out and do the best I can. Either way I can't wait.
DS should be a hoot with 9 entries!
Well having just picked up an ice cap at the Dixon & Hwy 27 Tim's I can tell you that the police was out in full force. From what I overheard they were targeting white Integras.
I think Bill has been working on a secret plan. :D
