nope... I doubt we'd want to increase the number of classes over the number of class es in the regional series.. it will most likely be a reduction in number of classes.. the system will be Brillant and is something that a few people have said would be interesting to see created...

Not a chance... I don't want that many classes... hopefully 6 max but it might grow to 10.

A *spec* street tire class!

And you have to run in a rental car. A *spec* rental car!

And it's a team event and all four team members have to be in the car for every run! :D

I think a street tire novice class is a great idea for a club series! No points towards the year-end shootout, just "run-what-you-brung."

 Oh No!!! Not the Solo 1 PIP schedule!!!

First time I saw this thing, I just marked up my starting PIP's by 10, asked the executive to verify my estimate, and went out and ran!

Sincerely, though, they've made a simple points calculator, if the navigation between the different pages is less than intuitive.

Hahaha - just remember that their are tweaks so the system to apply it for SOLO2 use.

The power/handling indexes are inverted (aka 30 power and 70 handling for SOLO2) and suspension pips are multiplied by 1.5.

I spent a lot of time using last year's results and reclassing cars until there was as tight a competition as I could produce. Either way, it'll be a little better than the family base system of yesteryear.

Hanif,

Very cool. I've often wonderd if this type of system would work for Solo 2. A club series is the perfect place to test it.

It looks like you've put a ton of effort into it. Any chance you're going to be releasing a spreadsheet for easy classifying?

Keith,

The SOLOSprint tables are still valid. On the "table" tab, change the 30 to 70 for handling and the 70 to 30 for power. After converting spip to pip, multiply by 1.5 before adding to your base pi.

I've been holding off on linking the SOLOSprint rules since they are not 100% released yet. When they are, I'll post links and/or take the spreadsheet, make the 30/70 change.

For now, throw me an e-mail at haniforama@yahoo.com with ALL car details and I'll give you your preliminary classification.

Stuff I need to know:

Car year
Car make
Car model
Car crank HP or dyno HP (specify which dyno)
Any and all modifications (engine, driveline, suspension, body and trim, wheels, tires, other, etc)

Sorry to cut off all this "trash talking" but I've got a question regarding this series...!

I'm not going to make the open house on the 9th ( thanks Wosca! ) so will I still be able to register for the series at one of the first two events?

And what class will my STi wannabe in? 2005 RS no mods!

Unnofficially in #5.

I'll have to look into the differences between an 05 and an 02 to verify - later tonight or tomorrow night.

Does the series have rules regarding the vehicles "appearance"?

Hmmmm.

At minimum, the vehicle would have to be eligible for competition using the GCR's and the Ontario Regional Autoslalom rules.

I would prefer full road-going vehicles but would hate to have to exclude people from competition.

Does your vehicle meet the vehicle eligibility rules?

Let me discuss with others before giving a final ruling.

Defineately meets the vehicle eligibilty rules but the car is in a transition state. I would love to be able to test and tune the suspension/chassis upgrades but the body work will not be finished till mid season.

The structure around the driver must be solid (according to the rules). That means a strong and intact firewall (in this case behind the driver), solid doors, solid floor and front "firewall".

Beyond that, the normal safety items must be in place, fluid traps, etc, etc ,etc.

Basically, if it meets the letter of the Regional Autoslalom rules, we'll allow it, but will frown upon make-shift fixes and the like.

Will you be at an event before the 30th of April where I might be able to take a peek at the car?

Also remember that body work is require to the driver's waist. So running without doors is a no-no, but no hood, hatch or trunk is OK.
