Solo Racer and novice event winner Andy Wojteczko was quoted in a National Post article (http://www.nationalpost.com/driversedge/story.html?id={0DDC808F-ECE4-4118-9BE1-86AFB222D59D}) on the DarkNights show. When asked about street racing, he said that he doesn't race illegally: I race Solo 1 and Solo 2 at Mosport and Shannonville.

He also added that he likes his Mazda RX-7 because it is rear wheel drive, not like those sucky Hondas. (I'm paraphrasing here.)

Ok, the media is twisting things again, here is what really was said,

newslady "why didn't you a buy a honda?"
andrew " I did", (points to the civic dx)
newslady " ok, why didn't you buy both hondas?"
andrew "because a comparable rear wheel drive honda like the NSX or S2000 would have been twice as expensive"

I love hondas, she didn't so she made me look like a honda hater.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at shannonville.

dave..how did you get your car picture in your post?

Dave

Adam, I added it to my signature (see your user cp...button for it up top). You've got to have a picture online somewhere and then all you need to do is refer that location using standard vB code, ie. "open square bracket "img "close square bracket" web address of the picture "open square bracket /img "close square bracket". I can't type it out exactly or the messageboard software will think I'm trying to post an image.

Hope this helps,
Dave

I'm glad it's not working, 'cause the last thing that we need is to see your car each and every time you post :)

Adam, if you're using one of those free picture hosting sites like Yahoo, Imagestation, etc. then that's the reason it isn't working. Those sites don't allow external links to their pictures.

Here's a picture of my car...

BTW, mine is the red one, not that ugly yellow one :)

Ahh.. The National Post.. spreading disinformation wherever it may go...

Changing the weight of a car, changing the suspension, you're playing with your life. *sob* Arrrrgh...

Another visible trend was female racers. The Sweetie Girl racers were out in force, selling freezies and lip gloss to raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Madd sucks. I don't like Madd. Madd can kiss my arse. *ahem* Ask me sometime and I'll explain.

This [sport-compact car culture] used to be male-dominated, but not any more. So... does that mean it's female dominated? *looks around* Riiiight..

"Street racing will never stop, it's been around since Christ was a cowboy. But, somewhere in the middle, there's got to be some common ground, some control. Does anyone know what their message is? This article certainly didn't explain it.

Andrew Wojteczko, an engineering student, said he does not race his black '93 Mazda RX-7 illegally because he does not want to risk losing his licence. Andrew..Please tell me they paraphrased you. That's not the only reason right?

P.S. - *hops on the bandwagon* *steals Caius' copyright placement...oh oh.. is that part copyrighted? :p*

Adam, e-mail me a picture of your car and I'll throw it up on the hada website (where no self-respecting Honda owner can see it!) so you can link to it for your sig. We've got some bandwidth to waste :P

Oh jeepers, everyone is jumping on the picture signature bandwagon! Go Taylor! Go Caius!

That article was horrible. Just more fluff for the casual observer. Not that I support street racing in any form, but the article is mostly about playing up the outlaw/bad boy image of racing and car enthusiasm in almost any form. The deaths they refer to all occurred during impulsive "stoplight" races (the most recent death was the result of a race between two SUVs and a Civic - real enthusiast stuff there), not the semi-organized, illegal racing they talk about in the article. All of us who play with cars are bad boys...he he.
