Make sure your vehicle has no leaks.
Clean off all the salt crud before going on the track.
NEVER pass in front of the timing truck and always go to the driver’s side to get your run times!
Please bring a shovel to help get the snow back on the track at the end of the day!
Be safe, have fun!

$20 for any ASN Canada FIA affiliated club member.

3 classes

fwd (includes regular street driven vehicles/or beaters fit for competition, equipped with either open or LSD differentials)

rwd (includes regular street driven vehicles or beaters fit for competition, equipped with either open or LSD differentials)

note: “beaters” do not have to be road worthy, but do have to meet minimum safety/noise restrictions eg: no holes in the floor board, functional seatbelts, mufflers, no leaking fluids, functional brake system etc.. for any questions check with the organizers

modifications: pretty much free, tires must be regular DOT commercially available passenger tires, the only allowed alteration are cut groves. “tractionizing” is NOTauthorized.

-you can team up and share a vehicle, maximum 3 drivers per car

-single passenger is allowed (competing or guest)

Scoring:

-Event is broken into a morning heat consisting of 3-5 runs
-Break for lunch
-Then reconfigured for a afternoon heat consisting of 3-5 runs

-times are added up from the two heats to get your total time scored.
-hit standing pylons (not directional cones) 4 seconds are added to your raw time
-Did Not start / off course / did NOT finish runs will be assessed with the slowest time
scored in your class for that heat (not your time.. the slowest clean run in your class)
eg. To get penalized/scored with an “STD” (slowest time of day.. its actually slowest time of heat but STD sounds better than STH) the driver did not show up at the start line and complete a run, went off course etc

Just a couple of notes for those coming from the GTA:
- Captal City Speedway was changed to the Ottodrome a few years back, and now it's back to the old name again, but the sign may still say "Ottodrome".
- The track is set back in the bush and it's easy to miss the sign and entrance.
- From the Toronto area it's shorter (and maybe a bit quicker) to take Hwy. 7 across from Peterborough through Carleton Place.
- After the long "S" bend east of Carleton Place you'll come to a set of lights at Upper Dwyer Hill/Dwyer Hill Rd. (they added "Upper" to the road north of Hwy 7, why I don't know).
- The track is about 4 kliks (+/-) east of the lights on driver's left (north side). If you get to the cut-off for Stittsville you've gone too far, and if you wind up on the 417 going east, you've definitely gone too far - turn around at the next interchange and follow Finboy's directions back. ;)

Hi,
I'm an ice racer from Oakville, and I'm going to be in the Ottawa area for Saturday. Since I'm probably not going to be able to make it down to Minden in time for registration, my Saturday has been freed up, and this "slush & slide" slalom event sounds intriguing. Are the rules the exact same as solo II? Also, I am a member of TAC, but for some reason I haven't received my membership card as of yet. I do have my CASC drivers license though. Does this make me eligable for the $20 entry fee :D ?

The events are run in a similar manner to your typical Solo II. Dave's post includes the major differences. (ie. 4 second cone penalty, DNF rules, all runs count)

May be worth mentioning that studs are not allowed due to wear and tear on the track. The same applies for solo II, I suppose.

Conditions will likely be quite icy this weekend, but the track is in good shape.

Regards,
Greg

It was a fantastic cold sunny day in the Capital!!

Minus shrinkage type of weather with the Sun out makes for great Slush and Slide conditions!!

There were 29plusish cars that ventured the cold.. and a small SPDA posse who made the trip from Toronto… crazy mofoz

Word on the street a black STI and a brand spanking RS owner are sharing a room.. but I’m told what happens in Ottawa stays in Ottawa.

One of them had some Bonnie Bell lip gloss for the occasion.. After he smiled and held that up… I didn’t ask anymore questions. Scary part is the other SPDA guys were hooking up with them tonight for day II

Anyhow…..On arrival the organizers found the conditions too icy, so a few guys went out and got some sand to throw down on the surface to provide extra traction.

After doing a couple parade laps.. we actually generated some traction, and the first car was soon off.

Three timed runs were completed in the mornings heat, and after a 1 hour lunch break, we finished off the afternoon with 4 more runs with a slightly modified configuration to the track.

Seeing cars hit cones is one thing at a solo II event.. but seeing cars go “two wheels off” is soo much more entertaining to watch.

Here are some pics from todays event
