Anyone know where the first lapping session for 2001 will be, and what club will hold it?

The May 18th event is being organized by HADA Motorsport.
We try and list most of the events that happen in Ontario in the Event Calander section of our website.
Check that out for up-to-date info.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, my club (StLAC) won't be holding any open lapping evenings this year... and I have too much to lose to do it myself (actually, my board members could sue me for jeopardizing the company's ownership... strange but true).

BTW, Theo:

It looks like the image you linked needs a userid and password for the HADA web site! It keeps asking me to log in when I view the page.

This is novel, I've never seen that before. :)

I know I missed the last meeting but I hadn't heard we're (StLAC) not having any lapping sessions. Actually they've never really been StLAC events, they were all organized by Ed Luce who happens to be a StLAC member.

Really? That must be due to my computer-ineptitude.

I don't know how to fix that so I guess it'll just be one of those unsolved mysteries.
www.hadamotorport.com will get you into the site, no passwords required.

Theo, you need to change or remove that image in the signature of your profile. Otherwise people are going to get mighty confused. :)

Um, What image in my signature? ;)
You're loozn' it buddy.

What's my name again?

Oh yes, Blur: you're right regarding StLAC, though I always equated the two on a low level. Still, my lapping days will take a major hit this year... probably a good thing at the rate the Rocket is gobbling Victoracers and brake rotors.

A correction to one Theo's post. The May 18th event is not being organized by HADA, but rather by BAC.

HADA will be organizing the following "official" Solo 1 events:

Solo Open House - April 1
Cayuga Lapping Day - June 22
Cayuga Events 5/6 - June 23/24
Shannonville Pro Track Event 9 - August 11
Shannonville Nelson Circuit Event 10 - August 12

Besides that, we will most likely hold some other lapping days throughout the year but we haven't finalized anything yet.

Stay tuned though, as soon as we book a date we'll let everyone know.

Thanks for the enquiry.

Can you post that as a separate message, if they're open lapping days? That'd be a good announcement to make. If they're not open days, tell me to jump. ;)

Shameless plug: HADA's got a great event calendar on their website! Check it out at HADA Event Calendar (http://www.hadamotorsport.com/menu/fr_eventcalendar.html)

That's what I'm talking 'bout!

This forum will have a calendar soon. So maybe I can convince a moderator to keep track of these things. ;)

Last summer, two friends and I rented the Pro/Full track at Shannonville for a day. The lapping day was in July and we had to book the track October the year before to be able to get it on a Sunday. We printed flyers, went to club meetings, posted on the solo 1 mailing list, spoke to all our friends and freinds friends, strangers with nice cars etc etc and we still just barely managed to get enough people to break even for the day. Too bad for those who did not attend, as there was more track time available that day than I've had in an entire season of Solo 1. Most of the first timers were tired by 2:00, and left by 3:30, so I had the entire track to myself for an hour and a half. Lapping at it's finest!

When HADA, or any other CASC club for that matter, has their lapping days, what additional insurance do you get if any? What are the rules about number of cars on the track and passing?

All CASC affiliated clubs have general liability insurance coverage. This covers basic events, including lapping days, but does not cover passing. If passing is involved, even on the straights, there is additional insurace that should be purchased.

As far as I know, there are no limits on the number of cars allowed on the track that is stipulated by insurance. However, organizers that hold well run events will limit the number of atendees in order to insure lots of track time for the participants.
