I am itching to watch some racing this weekend. On the Mosport schedule it says that Aug 2, 3, and 4 is a Porsche race weekend!

Anyone know anything about this? Big field? What series? US thing? Entry fee to spectate?

OOOPS I HAD THE DATE WRONG IT"s THIS WEEKEND! Any ideas anyone?

:( I went and was told because I don't know any of the Porsche owners or club members I would not be allowed in. Now I am wondering what is so special about Porsches that you can't let one or two people come in and watch the races. I would understand if they were less common cars but for christ sake they are only Porsches :( I ended up at the DDT to watch the SVOT club driving the cobras, contours and yes Lightnings hehehe.

That sucks! Did they think you were trying to get some track time in with them or what? You wouldn't think they would care if people watched ...

It has nothing to do with them being snotty. It's an insurance issue. Most major tracks are requiring advance written notice of any extra attendees at this kind of event. Watkins Glen has already issued strict notices of this requirement for everyone, and some clubs are taking this step on their own initiative. It makes a lot of sense in the current climate.

Racing Events - No Spectators 1 Day Event $2,000
Racing Events - With Spectators 1 Day Event $3,400

I imagine this is why there were no spectators allowed. It will probably be worse next year. I hate insurance companies.
