The only things I know about autocross are a) I'm racing this year and b) I'm stock class. Could someone point me to a resource where I can learn exactly and completely what I need to do to be signed up and ready to race? Does my car need inspection? Do I need licencing? Is there a season fee or just race fees? paid in advance or day of? Does a special certification of helmet matter or can I borrow an old motorcycle helmet? blah blah...
Thanks,
Matt
-more general inquiries to come, no doubt...

Alot of your questions can be answered by reading the CASC-OR Autoslalom Rules and Regulations which are slated to be released on March 21st, 2006.
To answer some of your questions:
-series registration takes place on April 2nd, 2006 at the Solo Open House at CSC Racing in Newmarket
-your car needs to be technically worthy, but no formal inspection is required in Solo 2
-no license is required for solo 2 this year
-there is a series fee for doign the regionals, which I believe will be approx $35
-fees for each event are paid the morning of the event
-helmets must have a Snell M95 or S95 or later rating on them for competition this year

Brian, are you sure on the snell rating?
I thought only 2000 and 2005 would be allowed

as per the link, Snell 95 is acceptable until the end of 2006, then Snell 2000 will be the minimum required

Check out a club series to get your feet wet. Cheap entry fees, simple rules and classing, loaner helmets usually available, emphasis is on fun!

MCO's rookie handbook (http://www.mco.org/files/solo/handbook.pdf) contains some very good information for newbies

Thanks for all the info. I'll have to do some more reading and wait for the regulations to come out next week.
So the club race days are completely seperate from the CASC? I think I may be interested in doing that, as long as they receive a decent turnout.
