Hi,
I was wondering if the school format will be like last year, 1 day for a class session in the evening and 1 day at the Powerade Centre? Or just the Saturday?
thanks,

We're doing a one-day session on Saturday - classroom for an hour in the morning, and then it's all about the seat time.

Probably not for the classroom session, but you never know with those Honda drivers. :)

Helmets are mandatory. There will be a very limited number of loaners. With all students in their vehicles at the same time, it's quite difficult to share a loaner.
Preferably students are able to bum a helmet off of a buddy if they already don't own their own. Alternatively, it's 99% likely you'll be addicted to the sport after the school, so it might be worth the investment to buy one beforehand :)

Already addicted. Just needed to be certain as I've completed other schools in the past and they weren't mandatory.

My registration and payment are in the mail, you should receive them this week.
*BUMP*
We have SIX seats left.
If you put a cheque in the mail this week and have NOT emailed me to say so, I recommend you do it now (first name, last name please!)
If I don't know about your RSVPed spot, there is a chance that there won't be spots left after the open house.

Can we pay cash at the Open House for this, or do you still want a cheque?

Cash is fine at the Open House, as are cheques payable to HADA Motorsport Club.
I just don't want to take chances with the postal service.
The school is full.
We're now starting a waiting list.
Thanks for the interest, folks!

What...? Huh...?
Oh, this must not be the post I was looking for.
Maybe it's in that Solo Sprint forum over there...
The CASC-HADA school is full, over-flowing, and has a giant waiting list.
Any rumours of a second school are (now) inaccurate: there is no second event in the works. Sorry to disappoint.
At the moment, the only other autoslalom school I am aware of is Ian Law's Advanced Autoslalom School on April 22 (see www.carcontrolschool.com (http://www.carcontrolschool.com))
If any club is planning a school for this season, please speak up!

It looks like rain is in the forecast for this day. Is the school a go rain or shine?
Absolutely.
Events happen in the rain, and so does Autosalom school.
Wear weather appropriate clothing, kids :)

It also means your passenger seat will get very wet. I'll be going out to buy a proper rain suit this week.

Why is that?
Marsh
04-24-2006, 05:17 PM
Why is that?
Because instructors will be moving from car to car. If it's raining that means that we'll be running through the rain to get from car to car... then sitting in the passenger seat.

Now looks like it's going to be a beauty day.
With that said, is there a problem if I leave the T-roof glass at home for the school, and also for any Solo2 event for that matter, or do I have to leave them on?
I would recomend you leave the roof off while on course. It maybe better for your performance, give you additional helmet clearance and I have heard of T-tops panels coming off because of the twisting the car can undergo.
Maddog

Thanks.
Yea, that was another reason...helmet clearance. Without the helmet I have about 1 inch of headroom, so it would definitely be a clearance problem.
I wouldn't be too worried about loosing the glass. I recently installed the nice set of subframe connectors that seems to have stiffened things up pretty good.

Things like T-tops are extra dangerous because they could come loose and hit a course marshal. Course marshalling is far more dangerous than driving, there's no need to complicate their lives any further.

I don't think that a drivers tank top is likely going to fly competely off and hit a marshal but I always wear a shirt with sleeaves and a collar just in case. :D

I do seem to remember a Subaru driver taking a passenger out who in a corner had a "wardrobe malfunction" that totally distracted the driver!
No marshals were hurt in the process though..... The driver's ego was after fubaring the run.

Man I need to take more passengers out like that and who cares about a run after something like that happens :D

What I posted on the HADA forum;
I just want to thank everyone that was involved in organizing and running the HADA autocross school today. This was my first experience with autocrossing and I really didn't know what to expect out of the car and myself. All the instructors that ran with me all had good feedback I could work with.
I'm happy to say that I surpassed my own expections and look forward to running some various club events and maybe the odd regional, but best of all it had a blast...way more fun than I ever expected.
For those that where there, I was running the blue Camaro. I found out when I got home that one of my spark plugs was broken so I was actually running on 7 cylinders..LOL. Also, I noticed I blew a left rear axle seal. :( If it wasn't for that, I would have definitely gone to the HADA club event on Sunday(tomorrow).
Once again guys, THANKS!
