for those who would like to look it over (and start modifications of their vehicle for the new rules) before they get an official copy at the open house I did notice that it was online at the solo 2 website...

Where on the "Solo2" website?

On this link: http://solo2.casc.on.ca/info/rules.php it only shows the old rules, unless I'm going blind (which maybe possible).. LOL

Actually, thank YOU for pointing that out, Joe.
I'm still learning the ins and outs of the site structure, so I'm going to miss things.
I'll update that tonight. :)

FYI the CASC site has a couple of pages of old information also. I don't know who updates those but it becomes confusing for people with so many locations with information.

They also have a 2006 schedule posted that appears to be wrong.

Post your bug reports in the website feedback forum (http://www.casc.on.ca/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=37), so the appropriate person can address it :)

I have a question regarding catch cans.

From the Stock Category section the following is stated:
8.10. Engine and Drive Train

E.
Installation of vents, catch tanks, and oil coolers on the engine, transmission, or
differential is permitted. If no vents or catch tanks are added, OEM systems must be in
place.

So if the crankcase is vented to atmo through a breather filter (via valve cover) a catch can is not needed?

What fluids is the section below addressing?
5.5. Fluid Containment
All vehicles must be equipped with containment devices for all fluids. Where OEM
systems have been removed, approved minimum one litre catch tanks for all fluids must be
used

Thanks,
t.

tashko,

the second rule clearly states all fluids... so if it's a fluid you can't have it dripping all over the place.. this includes oil, Fuel, rad fluid, transmission fluid and brake fluid (if your brakes are leaking then you have major issues) and it includes every other fluid found in a car I haven't mentioned.

Seems redundant to me since fuel, oil, washer fluid, coolant, etc. are all in their respective containers...where/why would I add a 1L catch can and what OEM system would you remove to necessitate this?

I have my crankcase vented via breathers, no oil drips out. Does this mean I need a catchcan since I removed the OEM recirc. hoses? If so, better not be 1L!

I'm feeling a little dense here...

Yes you have to put a catch can. The containment device you removed is the hose going to the intake plenum.

But wow 1L is big. I never noticed that before.
