...just a quick question that I don't need to bother Wes with as yet.
Does modifying the electrical connection to the fuel pump (thicker wire, plus added relay) count as a fuel system mod under 10.8.A? And if so, where do I take points on the schedule?

Tashko, aren't you in the same boat on this one? According to the schedule, the wiring is not part of the fuel injection system.

If I were stewarting this I'd say it's covered under fuel pump. I'd check with Wes.

I never really worried about it because I've had so many points to play with! :(
I would assume that 2pts would apply if any under:
v. Carburetor/fuel injection*/induction system*: any unauthorized
modification which does not increase the number of venturies/air
throttles.

That is covered by 10.8.A.....

Yeah, it looks like I have to take 2 pts for it there. Now I have 17 pts. :o

17 eh...getting serious this year. I'm only at 8 or 9 at the moment.
How about an intercooler sprayer? I don't see any mention in the rule book.

I'm just getting dinged for little things. It's a poor usage of points problem actually.
Intercooler sprayer = MOD. :p Use a handheld spray bottle instead.

I guess you need to skip the fuel pump re-wire or remove something. You'll have to fill me in at the first event what you've done to max out (maybe I've missed something good. :) )
A spray bottle is what I started using last year. I need the sprayer more for the track since the stock I/C heat soaks very quickly.
I would assume I could install it and just remove the resevoir during Regionals.

Take a look at the prep point schedule again, I was discussing with a competitor yesterday that the rule book had freed up a few points from last year on a turbo car... something about boost controller and exhaust manifold, I think they're both included in "turbo system"

I don't see anything different. It's still 2pts for modification to a boost control device and 2pts for turbo mod/sub.
I think the only thing changed was clarification of adding a turbo/super-charger which is 4pts and includes exhaust manifold, boost controller etc.

I agree with Tashko on that.
for example:
12.5.iv. Turbocharger, supercharger
A Turbocharger system is defined as: turbine, wastegate, exhaust manifold, boost control valve/device, intercooler
A supercharger system is defined as: compressor, compressor drive system, boost control valve/device, intercooler
Relocation of accessory components to facilitate installation is allowed providing it serves no other purpose. Ducting/piping between components of this system is allowed. 4 points
but 12.5.x states:
12.5.x. Any modifications/substitution of turbo chargers 2 points
so on a factory tubrocharged car if you change the turbo it's 2 points change the boost controller it's another 2 points change the header it's another 2 points. hmmmm, looking at this a factory turbo charged car will take 6 points for everything done to it whikle an aftermarket turbocharged car is only claiming 4 points. interesting....
