OK, so here's the details for a newbie to Autocross/Solo II.
I have what I understand will be a Modified D class vehicle
(1974 Porsche 914 with Chevy V8) The power to weight ratio
is pretty good and I am planning to run Yoho R032 "H" tire for
this year until I get the car sorted and comfortable with the
handling. (no Limited slip Differential)

DO I REALLY NEED an emergency brake in tight turn to bring
the rear around or will the power do the trick once I learn how
to put the power down. Any thoughts/comments are appreciated
as well as WHAT other vehicles might be in my class ?? Thanks

Allan

you won't need an e-brake.. slow it down and then power will do the trick for sure...

those are not the stickiest tires for all that power.

I'd LOVE to co-drive it!

Cool, another car in class for me-Jeff's right about the 32R's but if you want to run them it's ok with me. ;) :D

Another method to initiate a "whale tail" in RWD is to (when you're already turning) depress the clutch, add gas, and release the clutch under higher rpm.
I'll be also looking forward to seeing your car in action.

I just reread and noticed the what's the other competiton questions-there's a bimmer,a cobra replica, possibly a wrx and my AE86 corolla. And the e-brake is not going to be a benefit at all, especially with a mid engined car like yours.Once that much weight starts to slide stopping it from sliding and getting the power back down smoothly will be tough.
Welcome to the class,it'll be fun.

Andrew should also be running his VW in Dmod. From what I understand there maybe as many as 9 competitors in that class. This should be one of the classes to watch.

As Tom said "Welcome to the class,it'll be fun"

[QUOTE=J.C.]Andrew should also be running his VW in Dmod.

I wondered how long it would be before that was confirmed :)

Yep should be a fun class for sure, now back to work on the car so I have something to drive this year!(man this hobby has gotten out of control :D )

He told me back at the solo II open house he had signed up for Dmod. I had seen you briefly Tom when we were up at CSC. I was talking with a few people and I meant to tell you but one minute I saw you, and the next you were gone. I dunno that supercharger seems to be working fine ;)

Yeah no problem,I suspected it may be in Andrew's best interest to go to D-mod for the scca stuff, maybe not-what the hell do I know. :)
So it sounds like Andrew went with a supercharger over a 1.8T,if I read it right anyways.I think it will be a very good match up between the fwd VW and my rwd corolla.
Look forward to adding Andrews talent into the mix for the class, none of us will have a hope in hell of doing well for overall honours so we might as well have a season full of class battles.

No supercharger that I have seen. You have 2 guesses left. ;)

No supercharger eh?,so it's either turbo'd or na over 2 litres.
I dunno,new W8 or small block chevy?. :)

I actually saw him eyeing a toureg diesel V10 twin turbo, but allas it did not fit. :D

Your third guess was the closest. Its NA under 2.0 liter. He is only going to Dmod becuase it seems no one will be running in Cmod here and the more cars in class the merrier.

Try finding a fwd tranny for the V10 diesel as well! :)

Besides that engine would weigh close to the rest of the car, glad he's going to bump up a class-hp is such a small part of the solo equation anyways. He's likely not to far off of what I'll have from my budget 1.6 anyways.
Now to get over my stomach virus and back to work on the car. :(
