it's not so much that nature scares me, it's more that as of next week, I will only live 15-20mins from Mosport! :D

I don't do camping. Though I've heard of this campsite with wi-fi...I could live with that.

ill be camping if the car is ready to go by event... rain or shine.
not because of nature but because of the price of gas.
hell, im actually thinking of living in a tent 24-7 with the gas prices.

I know how you feel, I just put Ultra94 in @ $1.25 per Liter, and my car hauls around 75L= $93.75 to fill her

At $1.25/L I wouldn't be using 94... especially on a stock car. Hell, last summer I ran my A4 on 87 when the fuel prices skyrocketed. Since I wasn't planting the throttle at those prices it made absolutely no difference.

thats what you get when you buy powerful cars..

hell i ran 2-3 events last year on regular... meh... :D

plus why buy 94 or whatever... you buy whatever octane rating prevents detonation, plain and simple.... atleast thats how i always looked at it.

The GT only needs 87 with 300hp. The damn 190hp 2.8L A4 needs 91. Bah.

My understanding is that higher octane gas burns slower, preventing detonation, but at the expense of a little power. So its actually better to run a lower octane gas, so long as your engine is OK with it.

Modified engines runs higher octane, only because they are tuned for it.

I guess you use what your car will run best on regardless of price because after investing hundreds or thousands of dollars into a car ( or dream ) the extra 10 cents a litre at the pumps is a small price to pay so your baby can run the way she should.

Besides.......racing is just a way of turning money into speed.

Just my opinion...... :)

You may be able to walk behind the Speedway and get to the showers at Turn 8.

There is a path across there and it isn't too long a walk to the turn 8 showers. I'm not sure if the showers there will be open, but there are regional races on the big track that weekend. Worst case you could make the long walk to the infield showers or drive over and pay the gate.

Yup, the showers are usually open at T8, and they are nice and clean ... about a 10 minute walk.

Okay, back to camping, then. :D

Also, you can download tickets from the CASC-OR website, so do you have to pay the gate in that case? Walking 20 minutes in the cold of the morning doesn't appeal to me - I'll drive over. Can you get to the turn 8 showers via car?

Thanks.

Yes, but probably not a race car :-) I made it up there in my Legend before, but it does get a bit ruff, and if ti rains, the mud is a bitch!

Turn 8 showers are great. If your cold from the walk ,sissy, you can take long hot showers. The hot water never stops. Should be noted that the shower heads are good too, not like most public shower heads that spray eveywhere but on you.

I used the turn 8 showers last year twice during the ddt school, very clean, never busy like the main showers on the infield.

Just so you know, the weather will be excellent this weekend.

The forecast was/is for rain, and I can't camp in a tent in the rain, and the motorhome isn't fixed yet, so I have just booked into a B&B. Thus, it won't rain. :p

Every time I have stayed at this B&B it has not rained at Mosport. A six-year streak right now ...

damn you old guys

why cant you sleep in a tent in the rain?

is your tent that full of holes?

last year at mosport when it rained at night, my zipper broke! (9 year old tent), i had to duct tape it as best as i could for the night....woke up with a puddle inside my tent next to the door, but it dried up by the evening

altho i seriously hope your superstition works through! we dont want any rain... so maybe its a good thing that you cant stand tents :)

I will be at the HOJO down the street. It might as well be camping! The No-Star hotel!

I'm on a 5-night streak of having a room with a non-working TV remote. Working on 6 this wknd.

Medical equipment needs power. Generators don't like rain. It just becomes too much hassle to haul another tent for the genset, bring little tables to keep everything off the ground sheet just in case of a flood (I've had a tent rip on me in the middle of rainy night as well at Mosport - in 1988), etc. etc.

If I was bringing the awning for the car like at Nationals last year, I'd have all that stuff with me, but I don't feel like doing all that for a school weekend where I probably won't be driving the car.

Just a quick note on my Ho-Jo stays

These are just the high lights

Ice Machine Broken for the weekend
Toilet does not work. Do you want to come and get your own plunger to fix it? (provided at the front desk . humm does it seem like this is an issues they found a work around for)
Breakfast. .. Never had it at the restaurant. The cook is never in when I need to eat. 7 or 8 or 9 am?
Dinner – Well I will not try this one. – They are always renovating
Pool – They have an outdoor pool but I don’t think is has ever been in service when I attended the hotel
TV remote – I think they are all busted.
The phone works.
I call it the no-star and laugh every time I stay there. I think cheap and cheap and cheaper. At least it is close to the tract there are snaking options in the same parking lot and there is a bed with a shower.

Well, the girl behind the desk actually came by my room 3 times with 3 different remotes one night...they were all defective. I asked if they had a helper monkey they could loan me to change channels - she didn't share my sense of humour.

It's not THAT much farther down the highway to the Holiday in East Oshawa on Bloor Street. 10 minutes highway from 401/Waverly. And it's a decent place. Go a few exits west to the Denny's for breakfast at any hour.
