I was running at Cayuga on Monday (Aug 19), and the track looks great.

The berm is huge - running from the middle of the main straight, around turn 1 and halfway down the second straight. It looks to be about 50' tall, with earthmoving equipment still piling the dirt up.

We were supposed to start at 9am, but had to wait until an inspector checked out the site. We eventually started running at 9:30. We were allowed to run with noise levels of 105db (measured 5m from the vehicle). The loudest we ever hit was 88db.

From the paddock area, we couldn't even hear cars running at the far end of the track.

At one point a lady drove in and started complaining about the noise. She lives on highway #3, about 6km away, and swore that she could hear us from her house. She complained that "...we were not supposed to be there!" I can't imagine that we would be making more noise than the vehicles on the highway. I spoke with her last year when she did the same thing at another Raven Day. Unfortunately I missed her this year. I'd love to get her out of her car and have her listen to the cars running.

The track has not changed at all, nor has the tower at the end of the pit straight.

A new tower is under construction at the drag strip, and some improvements have been made to the drag parking lot. The grandstands have been fixed up, but nothing done that will affect us on the road course. The washrooms are no better than last year.

I'm looking forward to seeing the berms covered in grass and trees, but in the mean time, I'll take it anyway I can get it!
