All evidence suggests that no one does that!

Folks,

The draft results from Victor are a bit messed up. I'm looking to get them corrected and will have the results out shortly.

Sorry Jay et al, I've got to run my business for a bit, sorry if I didn't jump on the organizers soon enough. I'll get right on it as soon as the bugs are ironed out of the results and I'll get them up asap.

Gentlemen,
Perhaps some people don't realize what I've been trying to do with Wired Motorsports, or perhaps some don't care. Which I suppose is fine, but rather somewhat disappointing too.

There are a number of things Wired could do to help Solo Ontario. I've offered a few times with a few suggestions. But instead the help isn't wanted or suspiciously viewed. However at least the suggestion of putting registration online seemed to be received, however no one has contacted me since about actually doing it.

I understand everyone else has another job to do. I really don't. This is the sort of thing I do now. Well for now anyhow, without financial support, I can't do it much longer. There are several series run in just Ontario that suffer from many similar problems, all which Wired could aid in many ways to make more professional and easier on the people who volunteer the difficult positions. Yes, some of this stuff would cost the series money, but if it's all in the interest in keeping a smooth running, professional-like series, I would imagine the competitors would understand the value and would rather see prompt results, online registration, cancellation or event transferring online and automatic, than prizes at the banquet. Of course, there are things that wouldn't cost the organization financially, and those are things like this...

I offered (and requested) at the beginning of the year to get the results from Victor at the end of each event on diskette. I think I even suggested they could be emailed if preferred. Either way, I could get the results up in 24 hours. However I didn't push it when I didn't get one just because the guy's got enough to do I guess.

Someone I know made a statement suggesting that at a $300 minimum for a weekend we deserve more than a 2-4 week wait. I have to agree.

However, why can't Victor or the origanizer, or whomever, supply me with the "unofficial" results digitally so I can post them ASAP.

Perhaps some people didn't notice but I photograpehd the time sheets last year, cleaned them up and posted them in Wireds articles. That was a fair amount of work to do just that one thing. But heck sometimes the sheets were torn down so quickly at the end fo the event, I couldnt' even do that. I found it too time consuming that I stopped doing it this year. Besides I had to miss a few events due to other work comittments so those events I didn't attend wouldn't have had those results posted.

Anyhow, if supplied, we can state they're unofficial, then when those who work on the results/standings officially get them done, then they can be posted in kind.

I guess what people really want to see was their laptimes. And that's not being shown now as it is. So why not get such results out to me after the event, I can post them and we appease the masses?

Now with all that said, I personally appreciate the effort everyone puts into the series, Solo 1 and Solo 2. In compariing them to Atlantic Series, we blow their doors off. But I don't see why that should be the end of it. Maybe Solo just needs that little but more umph to get 80-90 competitors out. Some of the things that might help (either series, though Solo 2 is doing very well this year in the competitor department) are quick unofficial results posting, on-line registration, visa payment, on-line cancellation, automatic emailing reminding registered people they have an event coming up (as I just lost $220 because I didn't think I had signed up for the 2nd Cayuga event and I had to go to Montreal for Work) and earlier this year I contacted the registrat whom for whatever reason didn't get my first email, so a few days later when I did get a hold of him, it was past the full refund cancellation date... Posting the Solo mailer (which.. I just realized I haven't seen one this year.. what happened there?) online. And many other things, driver profiles would be kind of neat, a photo gallery (which solo 2 started to do this year, but couldn't do it for every event because people either didn't have a way to submit photos or the maintenance effort was too much for the organizers). I know Caius (last year) and Chris Sorensen take a number of photos, why not have an online submission page for competitors to submit photos into a Solo gallery on the Solo page. Instead of people taking digital photos and not having anywhere to post them.

Anyhow... many things can be done. Some are very simple (time sheet results posting) and make worlds of difference to some people.

Taylor,
I know you offered to assist at the beginning of the year, but I haven't heard from you since. Get a hold of me and we'll discuss what you can do for me (us).
I would appreciate greatly anyone who would be willing to assist (take over) the website responsibilities. It hasn't been too time consuming, but on the other hand, I don't even have the results of the past two weekends myself. So I have nothing to post. As for adding galleries, postings etc. I would love for someone to take this on asap. I don't have the time available that this deserves.
I've tried to keep up with the demands of what everybody would like, but there's only so many volunteers working the system now. I think everyone has done what they said they would do in their positions, but we do need more NEW blood on the committee and on the front lines.
Volunteers are slim right now. You'll find that Solo I is currently run by bthe same 10-12 people, with the core memberrs ensuring events go as planned. This sport needs new people to assist in all areas, from registration to organization to committee members commited to ensure that Solo I & II remains professional, grassroots motorsports entertainment.
With regards to the central registration ideas, we are waiting for the Working Committee of CASC to hand down their report, because one of the things they are working on is the need for a central registration system for all disciplines, not just Solo. If they decide this is the way to go then I suggest you tender for the job. we are meeting with them at the annual presidents meeting on the 24th and we'll know then what direction CASC is going to take.
Come out to the Solo committee meeting on the 12th and we can start to discuss the balance of this year as well as 2003 Series and beyond.

Hmm well then I apologize for not pushing the issues some more.

"Be agressive...be...be...agressive."

Hmm the 12th of this month is not so good for me. So perhaps as you initially said you and I can talk via email or whatever over the next few days and arrive at some agreement on the areas in where Wired can help, then I can work on some drafts or proposals or what have you that could be discussed at the meeting.

Besides, I suspect this upcoming meeting will be more about the last event and probably some comments about the problems at Shannonville than discussing next year. (There is a meeting in Oct and such yes?)

BTW, I was told I would be invited to and included in the meeting of a technical comittee for CASC (is this that working comittee?). However last I heard, no such meeting of the comittee has taken place yet.

Anyhow, I'll be in touch.

Taylor,
We meet every second Thursday of the month. Yeah you're probably right about this months agenda.
The Technical Committee will be working on whatever the Working Committee suggests. The "Phase Two" of the plan if you will. Call me next week we set up a meeting for the near future.

I would be willing to assist with the web page, but, I don't know, this is a tough crowd to please. I don't think I could handle Jay's lashing:-(

Perry, if you need a hand......let me know and I will see what I can do.

Dave,
You beat me to it. I just got them up and you get in there before I can even confirm they're correct. Oh well the cat's out of the bag now.
