Hi DAVE
I find it hard to believe that your were scared at the big track,
even though i understand your safety concerns.
Your a very good experienced driver and i wish I could drive as hard as you .

I loverd corners 1,2,3,5,9 and 10 but feel corner 4 flat out WOW
that would be scary.

Dave do you think the OMSC Solo1 members could get together and buy a radar gun or better yet Solo1 buys one for next year
and absorb the cost in entrant fees.
What are they, around 300 bucks, divided
among all the drivers. Would not be that bad.

P.S BAD KARMA
Please forgive the GTAMC club lol
FOR THEY NOT NO WHAT THEY DO.

Greg , I certainly think that without a cage you must treat Mosport with more respect than the tracks Solo 1 uses just due to the speeds you will be at if and when you come off the road . I certainly cannot ( or will not) do Turn 4 flat although with the right tires a lift may be all that is needed. My biggest problem was being a chicken at Turn 8 as well as having trouble with my 5 th to 4 th downshift ( often picking 6th !!) . I was also running year 2000 Kumhos that had been reversed on the rims at the rear and even at the end or the day after the tires had been worn in , I was lucky to effectively have 225s at the rear vs the 265 I should have had.

BTW what do you think of a Mustang /Camaro challenge next year or were there enough Ford Guys to make the SVT day worthwhile ?

Not having enough time at the big track, is turn 8 the one at the end of the long straightaway? I'm trying to do the math in my head, that's all. I remember thinking how ludicrous the speed that I could carry around that was even with the instructor having an aneurism about it.

DAVE I was going to ask you about that, being which gear you were in up the strait.
I stayed in 4 gear and did not shift to fifth, cause it's such a big drop in rpm , I think 5 th is .68 or something in my car and not enough power to use effectively. So my speed up the strait was not that great , buzing along at redline in 4th.
I guess thats why I didn`t find corner 8 that scary compared
to corner 4.

I think a mustang /camaro challenge would be great.
I like any cars on the track, but having too close makes in power and performance would be interesting.

Actually it was the GOLDEN HORSESHOE MUSTANG CLUB (GHMC) club that invited the GTAMC to come out cause they were having a hard time getting enough people .

It took them a long time to get enough people together,
so I bet we could get them to open it up to none fords.

Plus that was there first event and they did not realy know what
they were doing,
When one car went of in corner 4 and hit the tires, the corner marshall or I mean grandmother did not move , never mind getting up and helping.
Plus turning down pro instructors that were willing to help, just cause they were not driving fords is plain crazy.

P.S. how about coming to some lappings days so you can drive my car?

Shaman yes corner 8 is at the end of the strait.

Adam already bought a radar gun, which he brings out to the Solo 1 weekends and lets us use to record top speeds and such. Cool toy, for sure!

Greg , the Mustang I used to have had 3:08 gears and a stock engine so it was only worth keeping in 4 th gear due to the as mentioned severe drop in RPM in 5th . The Camaro with it's 6 speed and higher rpm and a 3:42 rear end means that I am in to 5 th before I am 1/2 way up the hill but definitely downsift to 4 th in the braking zone for turn 8 . Having been in Chris Sorensen's car for the previous session I realised just how much faster he does Turn 8 than I do although my approach speed is significantly higher due to that good old iron block V8 .

You should try it in the rain with allmost no tread R coumpounds....

4 cars went off... 1 new Camero SS totalled.

Going up the back straight and the car just moved sideways about 4' with the wheel held straight.

I really hope my luck improves at Mosport for next year. I missed the big day on the GP circuit because of pulling a thread out of my caliper mount that day before getting started. :( I could have cried.

That lead to missing the Solo 1 weekend to follow, and then I went to an OMSC lapping day on the DDT and cracked my front pads! That's 3 for 3, so I deserve a break on the GP track next year!

I also need to figure out what the rules allow for "free" engine mods within the ASS/2 class. This 225hp nonesense is frustrating. I realized just how under-horsepowered (though torquey) the stock 5L is when I could barely keep up with the turboed red Integra up the front straight at Cayuga last event... yet I was 4 seconds/lap faster than he was.

RWD and a big flat torque band make for quick corners. :)
