DECH_92 Sunday crash

Hi, I would like to thank the Organizer,Stewart,Marshals,Ambulance personel
and all fellow Racers for all there help and concern Sunday when I crashed.
I am fine, I woke up the next day with a sore left wrist and left side of my neck, but no bruising.
The safety equipment worked the way it should.
"AND HE WALKED AWAY"
Thank God I had proper Race seat, 6 point harness and a strong Cromemoly cage.
The body and frame are toast but everything else on the car is mint low mileage parts.
To many parts to change to a different type of car, so guess I am looking for a donar mustang or maybe a Cobra kit.
Looks like I will be busy this spring.
Hope to see you guys mid season 2003.

Hate to see a fellow Ford pilot get banged up- glad to hear you're OK and your safety equipment did its job. Also glad to hear you'll be back out there. Good Luck.

Glad to hear you're going to be OK!

If you decide on a Cobra, look at the FFR Spec Racer. It's the only one I know of with an SCCA legal cage and a reasonably safe race setup. All the rest would require retro-fitting a cage at a minimum, as I'm going to have to if I run mine next year. I think I'll take this lesson to heart.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm glad you're OK and had your car outfitted with some safety equipment that assisted in keeping you unhurt. I also thank you for your kind words for the organizers, marshalls etc. We strive to ensure that Solo I is as safe as it can be considering you are "racing" on a track.
It's unfortunate that your car was written off, but the main thing is you walked away and that the Solo I team took care of you immediately. My hat goes off to all involved and I hope that no one is detered from enjoying motorsport as a passion.
we look forward to seeing you return to Solo I netx year. You'll find no shortage of support from your fellow Solo I'ers.
Best of luck

:( I'm sorry to hear that you had an incident on Sunday. I'm glad to hear that you are ok.

I was really looking forward to running with you on the track one of these days. We just never seemed to get on track at the same time. Or else it rained or I broke (mostly the latter... arg!).

Best of luck over the winter doing the rebuild. BTW, I have most of the stock suspension and brakes components for the 91 if you need anything. Just let me know and I will do some digging.

Greg, you did a super job of handling the situation, big ups to you for your candor and general attitude in a frightening scenario.
If you need(and you will) any help, the Solo dudes are there at youre beck and call..
Think HONDA:)

How did you get an accident on Solo1??

How does anyone "get an accident on Solo1"?

Have you ever been to a Solo event?
I get the impression that you haven't, or you wouldn't have asked such a question.

It's like this:
People tend to drive their cars quickly at a Solo event, because they are being timed. Driving quickly in competition can lead to the occasional loss of control or accident. End of story.

Well, I assumed you hit another car.
What did you hit? How bad was the accident. I
had an assumption that accident and Solo1 don't go together.

I have been to few SoloII events and some track time on lapping days. I have yet to see one solo1 event.

Hi Kickster

No I did not hit another car.
Your racing against the clock not car to car racing.
It was raining , the track ranged from damp to standing water
I was braking down to enter a corner ,everything seemed fine
was just about to enter the turn and the car snaped left when I
realy wanted to go right. opps guardrail coming up fast.
End of story

I had R compond tires that actually did not have enough tread
for the conditions, my brake pads were high temp race pads that
like to be hotter then they were in rain conditions and I guess
they locked on one side and turned me sideways.

I did lapping earlier and didn`t have any problems so it realy freaked me out when I lost it.
It was one of the times I actually had time to check my speed
down the straitaway and I was not going any faster them earler.
Guess I braked a little late.
RACING can be dangerous
