Hi all,

Does anyone know of any performance tires that will fit on 13 inch rims? my stock tires are 175/70R13, and they are on 13X5" rims

Cheers,
Ryan

13" tires are so cheap why not use R-compounds on the street all summer.
I did that with my Insight a few years ago and it took 6,000 km and 8 auto-slaloms before the 13" RA1 tread got low enough to risk hydroplanning in puddles.

Yokohama AO32R 175/60R13 & 205/50R13
Toyo RA1 185/60R13

That would be sweet, but unfortunately I would have to commute about 200K per day on them, so they would get worn down in a month and a half... I need something that will last a little longer than that.

I found some Falken Ziex 512's that come in 185/60R13, they are UHP All-seasons...

Does anyone recommend/hate these tires? They seem to get good reviews and are pretty cheap.

So far they are the front runners.

good tire decent wear not as good as RA1`s but close to it, may last you 3mths at daily driving depends on how you take off ramps.

I read somewhere that you weren't supposed to put tires on your car that had a circumference difference of more than 3% or something... is this just so people don't get confused by their speedo being out 3%? Or is there some other reason that I'm not seeing?

For safety the load rating of the tire should not be reduced.
If it's "slightly" lower you may get away with it by not fully loading the car to it's maximum weight capacity and running higher pressures.

Diameter of the tire doesn't matter except it changes the speedo reading, odometer reading and gearing. As long as the tire sizes are the same front to rear it doesn't matter for the ABS brakes (unless you up going up to huge off roading tire sizes then the brakes will not be adequate).
My Toyo T1R street tires are 195/45R14 so my speedo reads 10% too high, this was confirmed with a portable GPS.

Sumintomo makes the only 13" tire worthy of being called performance. It's not great and I'm not sure if you could cram it on a 5.5" wide wheel. It's a good fit for 8" wide.

I decided to go with a set of 185/60R13 Sumitomo HTR200's. They're a little pricier, (+$90 for the set) but at least they are available.
