Just wondering how many other Canadian Racers are going to the SVRA Zippo Grand Prix in a couple of weeks.

For those that have never attended to race or spectate this event is a must attend. Clearly the largest attended Vintage/Historic race weekend held in North America. 500+ entries from Prewar, Sports Racers, Production, Sedans, Can Am, Trans Am, F1, IMSA Prototypes.

Daniel Thompson will be there with the '66 Mini Cooper. I believe Larry Coste and Dave Morgan will be there with Minis also.

If you go on the svra website and click on the event you can scroll dwon and see an entry list that is updated every few days.

I'll be there to spectate.. I was looking at the entry list..WOW!!. It's going to be one hell of an event..
The 40th anniversary of Can Am and Trans Am is really neat.
I was at St.Jovite for the first Can Am Race in 1966..I will NEVER forget it......absolutely awesome..I must have been awfully young!!! :D
See you there, Steve...

Hey Ken, when are you headed down?

We have practice Thursday afternoon, so were headed down Thursday morning. We usually go for dinner one night at Seneca Lodge, your welcome to join us if you are interseted.

I love watching 30 REAL Can Am cars taking the green, nothing like it! :) while its not the original glory days you saw back as a youngster, its still very impressive. Some of the front running cars are below 1:50's on the long track

Steve,

I ran my Porsche at the Zippo last year at the Glen. What an experience... from the sheer number of cars to the race reenactment on the old street course thru downtown WG. Not to be missed,it is truly the finest collection of Historic and Vintage cars assemled in NA. In fact I regularly saw your Jag in action. This year they hope to have 40 CAM AM cars as part of the feature race.

Gord,

Yeah last year at the Zippo was my first outting with the Big Cat, huge learning curve from the Swift lol. Unfortunately we sheared a rear axle at the start of the IMSA Feature Race, it was the original from the 1982 Daytona 24hr race.

I am hoping to have a good race, having more experience driving the car. The previous owner, Howard Turner got down into 2:00 flat lap times at the Glen  Peter & Frank always put on a good show in the Group 6 race and yes the Canadian Mini's always do very well.

Thank you Steve...

We're leaving Wed.... unfortunately we can't get the RV into the track till 6am Fri.!!

We will stay at The Glen State Park and be at the track when it opens for spectators..

Then we'll seek you out before heading downtown for The Race Re-enactment Events...

Really looking forward to the weekend..Keep your fingers crossed for NO "R"

Cheers Ken

Ken why dont you come in Thursday with us as our crew? I think we will have one spare crew pass and you can buy as many others as you need under our entry. I will check what the crew pass costs, it might be cheaper than Gen Admission and includes a party Sat night. That will get you in with us, instead of having to wait until Friday. If you have a cell, pm me with it and we'll give you a shout when we get to Registration on Thurs.

Steve - good luck and have a great time at the Glen. Unfortunately I won't be there this year (first time in 5 years!) Already suffering from withdrawl! Looking forward to your adventure stories...

Diane.

Diane,

How come you arent going to the Glen this year?

The Indy was fun but the Jag is better suited to the fast tracks, like the Glen, Daytona & Sebring. We're thinking of going to either Daytona or Sebring at the end of the year, Tullius has his collection of Group 44 cars in a hanger at Sebring.

See you at Mosport for Celebration.

Keep an eye (and an ear) out for the two BMW M1's. I think they are going to this. They sound amazing at the Glen. Hell...they sound amazing anywhere! :D

Congratulations, Steve, on your win Sunday..... You drove a very smooth race.
And your Dad made a very smart tire choice for the cooler weather on Race day.
Great job guys.. That "Cat" sure haul's ass on the bigger tracks!!.
And thank you both for the pit crew passes.
We have never seen so many fantastic vintage cars in one place and the racing was unbelievable.
An absolutely fantastic four day weekend.!
