Fog and very humid cool air are just as tricky on Mosport's DDT as a downpour on the Bracebridge go-kart track.
Someone else was quicker at the "Woohoo, trees!" cheer.
Advice/strategy that works on a FSS BG Legacy on R's doesn't quite transfer effectively to a DS BL on streets. The run ended with "OK, don't do what I say!"
SteveD following up that run with "So explain that run to me."
After a whole first season, what Trung told me at "school" in April in Brampton still holds true: "That car is much more capable than you're giving it credit for." There's always next year.
Kumho Ecsta MX's can take a lot of event torture. (Thanks, AR)
Having your 9 year-old son with you on his first ever fun run ride say "Let's go!" leads to personal FTD without even trying hard. Two runs later he says "go for it" and you get another personal FTD. Inspiration.
Being told that, even though not much of his face was actually visible with his helmet on, my son was positively beaming and having the time of his life on his fun runs gives you the best feeling of the day.

Thank you to everyone who helped, advised, consoled, cajoled, etc. me in my first full year of events. Thank you also to the series and event administrators and organizers. I enjoyed every event and had great times, even if I was not posting great times.

Apologies for the overused racing cliché, but I really am "looking forward to next year."

Yes, it's red, but that doesn't help it go any faster.

Well, I was waiting for someone to start this...

1. I could find a better way of controlling the spread of West Nile by getting the standing water out of the tires in the tire wall. Thanks to those that got dirty & wet getting the snake out of the grass. This just reinforces why I like the racing community.

2. Mud washes of your car much easier than battery acid....

3. No one has ever succeeded without failing first (or something like that)

4. Victoracers work great, if its 90 degrees and sunny ala the Nationals / not so great in 65 degrees and foggy....Hoosiers next year.

If anyone has some digital pics of the carnage, let me know so I can remind myself of the day before each and every 'first run' of future events.

Welcome to the Smashed Your Car at The DDT and Still Raced Anyway Club.

It sucks, but just keep telling yourself "at least I drove it home..."

#1 ... that I LOVE Solo 2 on the DDT! Slaloms, ELEVATION CHANGE, OFF CAMBER TURNS, late apexing onto a straight, quick left-right-left and fast right-left-right transitions, CHICANES IN 3RD GEAR AT FULL THROTTLE, mettle testing right handers before the stop box, long stop boxes... if all Solo2's were like this, I probably wouldn't have moved on to other versions of motorsport...

#2: After audibly criticizing myself for all of the errors during my reconnaissance lap (ask MikeV)... that maybe a 51.5 for the second car on the damp track that morning wasn't so shabby afterall. If only the event could have ended after one run... it would have been golden.

#3: That I have to learn how to follow up and IMPROVE after a good first run.

#4: That the OMSC managed to beat TLMC for the best event this year that didn't have armies of mosquitoes.

#5: Oshawa's a sleepy town. (nudge, nudge... maybe you need more roosters out there)

#6: That's the first time I saw someone camp out the night before a slalom to be prepped and ready to register before dawn. That's like... Jason enthusiasm!

#7: I tend to score better at track events like this and Bracebridge... maybe because I have grass telling me where I CAN'T go, instead of endless pavement leaving me to choose my own lines. (Allowing me to think for myself is always a bad strategy.)

Yes, I'm in the club... I've been bitten by two tracks at Mosport. Got lucky, so they were only good learning experiences at low cost. However, I'm still trying to find my cahones on the big track ... I lost them in the rain somewhere between 2a and 2b in the spring. Anyone see them at the BEMC event this weekend? I'll be needing them again for the first weekend of October. :o Woe to the poor sod who gets me for a Solosprint student on the Saturday... ;)

Now if that's not a setup....
