Today for the 7th and final WOSCA Summer Slalom an airshow was going on at the airport across the highway. Several times planes passed directly over the lot including one fast pass by a F15 with full afterburners. The show opened with the Snowbirds making their first pass across my field of view in a straightaway on my 2nd run.

Sadly the regular photographer types that were there didn't come out today. I only thought to grab my camera in fun runs and took a few shots. This is a F15 in formation with a P51 Mustang and one of the Sarnia locals in his Volvo.

They passed directly over us too. When the F15 did it's afterburner pass an MR2 spun out on course and nobody noticed him until afterwards. He stunchly denies spinning because he was watch the jet.

The best part of the show was the Canadian Hornet which did a full show. Many of the competitors had never seen an airshow before either so it was a very "buzzing" paddock. The show lasted from the beginning of heat 2 to the end of fun runs.

What I Learned: Jet noise makes fast runs very difficult when you're used to use the tire noise as part of your driving feel. MANY cones go down un noticed when the Snowbirds are making maneuvers directly above the lot.

Absolutely awsome day, and we even stayed dry!

I'm sure we'll try and do it again next year.

That would be the Sarnia airshow, I likely would have gone except I have to leave for a business trip.

The F-15 and P-51 Mustang fly-by is the USAF "Heritage Fly-By", other participants include F-16, A-10, F-86 Sabre, T-6/Harvard, etc. to show case the old with the new, the CNE airshow a few weeks ago had the F-15, F-16 and the F-86 in the same pass, it's as good as it comes! http://www.pbase.com/klin/image/66273897

The Snowbirds performance is also the last time this year they fly in an Canadian airshow, except their home-coming show in Moose Jaw in mid Oct. I also had the chance to take this one over the Toronto skyline on the Friday before the CNE airshow http://www.pbase.com/klin/image/66142246

Sorry, the aviation photographer part of me is totally out of control!

I was wondering if you would post up.

Link to the shot of your toes hanging out the back of the plane.
