Hopfully the G stock results are enough evidence that the Mini Cooper S should be moved the f@#k into a another class.

Go Canada!
For about 60 seconds he was actually the overall FTD of the event. :D
He was the first car on course on the first day of the event. Great to clean off the lot.
Good of the Winnipeg club also to provide some travel budget for him.

Yeah, it was another good event. Bruno and I trophied and the dude from Winnipeg did a nice job too.
All that is missing is some Ontario representation...aside from Andrew.....there was something missing from Canadas largest autocross community.
Hopefully some will make the trek next year and see what they are missing!!

Maybe it's not as big as most think.
Anyways congrats to anyone that went .. one day I'll get down there.... maybe ....

There aren't that many Ontario racers there because the ruleset is so different...
You only see SOME stock guys... and some mega-modified cars there that can be competitive in SOME class...
I may have to build up an SCCA car to have some real fun... with lots of competition...
Congrats to all the CDN's...
I spoke to most of these guys after they ran one evening...
I think they were watching CNN or something.

Hey JC, Was Andrew in the Green Monster? It doesn't list a car for him.
Hey JC, Was Andrew in the Green Monster? It doesn't list a car for him.
Yes he drove the Scirocco. He almost had to drive the Two Boys race Honda (from Quebec) as we had some mechanical issues. The front race wheels did not clear the new brakes :o :(
Some of the other XP competition. Its definitely a fun class. :)

What tires did you end up running up front?
d. Wings ... may not extend more than 66" above the ground, or above the height of the roofline, whichever is higher.
Basically 66" above ground unless its a truck.
We were told the Elise was to high, but we really did not feel like filing a protest so we did not measure.
I ran out looking for spacers and had no luck. Andrew changed back to the old rotors and calipers on the grid so he could use his wheels. He managed to get in 2 runs. In hind sight he should have borrowed the Honda it had brakes.

XP does look like a fun class filled with variety, turns out the corolla min. weight would be 1600lbs-just about doable based on where I'm at right now.
J.C. you might know this, when looking thru the rules it says only air to air intercoolers allowed in the general prepared rule set,(I think it was there, kinda late when I looked)is it allowed to use a water to air intercooler for XP?.I'm just about to gather parts for a water to air set-up and since I would really like to head down next year with you guys I don't want to need to redo it or get put up into mod over something that simple.
I never really paid attention to that section. But I would recommend you wait until Jan. 1st when the new rules come out, for any changes. XP is one of those classes that will most likely change.
Do you have the current rules?
7. ENGINE & DRIVE TRAIN
a. Drive train and related systems (induction, ignition, fuel, electrical,
cooling, oiling, etc.) and components (mounts, clutch, flywheel,
etc.) are unrestricted except as noted.
b. The engine block and cylinder head must not cross the location
of the original firewall separating the original engine compartment
from the original passenger compartment.
c. The engine orientation must not be changed (i.e., transverse
stays transverse, longitudinal stays longitudinal).
d. Any traction or stability control systems are permitted, but incur
a minimum weight adjustment, including standard parts.
e. Intercoolers must fit completely within the bodywork.
f. Air may be ducted to the induction system. Openings in the
bodywork to allow air to be ducted are allowed provided they
serve no other purpose.
It would be best for you to ask the SEB for clarification for your particular situation, but until the new rules are out nothing is in stone.

Yeah that was all the stuff I read off the scca site last night, which applies to XP,it was just in the rules for the prepared classes in general that it mentioned the air to air i/c deal.
I'll ask the question to the SEB now and see if what they have to say,I can't really use an air to air effectively enough so I'm going to go and deal with the w2a set-up and deal with classing if it's an issue(if I even make it).
Well worse comes to worse you can always run in Emod. The scirocco is setup to run in XP but it has a small enough motor to run in Dmod, and it is heavy enough to run in Emod. This comes in handy when you need to switch classes to get enough people in a class.

:(
And the blown Miata hos no where to play to be competitive :(
Maybe some mod-class with slicks.. :(
Too bad those guys are GUTTING to a bare shell first.. :(
Damn CASC rules differing from SCCA!
Maybe some mod-class with slicks.. :(
You will find alot of the slicks were slower than the Dot Rs at HPT. Those in the know were running on Dot Rs this past week.
Damn CASC rules differing from SCCA!
You can always just run club events (PITL,HADA), go south of the border, trek out to la belle provence or do like we did and say screw it to PAX and run in mod.

The trouble is for our little cars 13" R's aren't that great for sizing in comparison to those that can run the huge 17 or 18" combos-oh well I guess.
I'm ok that we don't have scca classing,we aren't even close to having scca size lots/courses so why have their rule set.Just run in mod,do nearly anything you want to make it safe and fast and enjoy.

If you really want to participate in the nationals, your focus shouldn't initially be on having the competitive car. No matter how hard you try, it is hard to be right on in your first visit.
The competition part of the trip is just a small part of the reason why you should make this trip.
Bring whatever car you have, find a class to run in...and have fun.
I really hope to see my Ontario buddies there next year.
BTW, if the CASC regional series becomes more reaonable..ie 4/5 events... I may run here next year.... hehe.
