Thanks for listing a scca rules site Brent, after reading in detail I for one hope we don't adopt their rules as is!.I find the rules to rigid, what about the guys that want to or can only afford a few limited mods and use the step-up rule to remain competive?
I like the freedom our rules provide with prep points and the individual's choice on which ones they want to take advantage of.I also like in our case, that stock classed cars all move up into super stock and then into street prepared within the same family. My corolla starts in H stock and then moves into FSP with mods in scca, seems odd to move into a different class when modified.
We also need to keep in mind that a sudden and completly different set of rules could really screw up cars allready built for CASC rules, for example my fuel cell wouldn't meet scca's rules for size and location,I would need to spend considerable time and money to correct. In fact I wouldn't make that effort and would chose to not compete at the regional level again,I suspect that I wouldn't be the only one.
I e-mailed Robb the night I returned home from the shootout, after having a chat with Wes at the event, about possible rule changes and my 2 cents worth on rule scenios, but to date Robb has yet to to respond.
I hope this post generates some interesting replys as it will take our collective thoughts to best serve our sport in our province.

No problem Tom. Actually I posted this link in response to a conversation I had at the Solo 1/2 Workshop.

I didn't get the impression that there would be any big changes like adopting SCCA rules. So I wouldn't start changing your fuel cell.

Hi Brent,I didn't really know what was in store for rule changes with all the different things floating around. But when talking with Robb,he mentioned over and over that he thinks Ontario is out by itself when it comes to the rules.
Its nice to hear that things shouldn't change to much,I'd hate to see BIG changes after all the work/money I spent on the corolla.I'd hate to get stuck running twin lakes solo's(ie no classes)just because my car didn't conform to new rules.

I think the organizers here are sensitive enough to realize that if a major change were to take place they would have to strive to keep simmilar modification levels. I also think they would have the presence of mind to give us a years warning, or more, to prepare for a switch.

This forum is working out great for me.I'm learning alot about a sport I know virtually nothing about.I do know that the motorsport scene in Canada is so small, and Canadians are notoriously cheapass,so any major rule changes could kill a series real fast.I come from oval track racing where we've been running the same rules(give or take)for about 25yrs.Just my 2 cents.

Its not so much that we're all cheapasses(I am,but not all of us)its just that as solo 2 racers we get virtually no recognition,no prize fund,no cash purses, hell we travel all over the province to an event and the class winners don't even get so much as $5.00 thophy to take home!.
At least oval trackers(even mini stockers)receive a cheque at the end of the night that at least pays for the entry fees!
This makes it hard to justify the effort some times for 3-4 minutes of seat time per event, but like lemmings we keep following each other back to race again!
With that said,I guess I'll see all you guys next year eh.

You are right about the payout. My home track pays $150 to win in mini stock-with a $7 entry fee,but we can't take our daily driver to the track and you need a truck, trailer, suit, shoes, gloves, belts, etc. The reason I got interested in solo 2 was the low budget aspect. My circle track car was taking all of my time and money.
