I now have at my shop the '68 Rambler American that was built as a prototype for the very successful 3 white cars that competed in that year's 4000 rally (and finished 2nd, 3rd & 5th). After the rally, AMC Brampton sold the cars off, the blue car being purchased by BARC member Sid Crump who with friend Dave MacKenzie, raced, then towed with the car. I have a good friend who was in management at Brampton at the time, who is putting me in touch with some other factory guys...what I am looking for is anyone who has any recollection of the car, memories, photos, dates, history, whatever. The car has spent approximately 30 years outside, uncovered. Rough as it is, all the original equipment, roll bar, fog lights, 290V8, 4 spd etc., is all as it was. The plan is to restore the car and vintage race it (like my Can-Am car, Villeneuve clone March and Austin America racer aren't enough projects)...
If you know ANYTHING about this neat piece of Ontario motorsport history, please contact me here, email me at c.burgess@bmts.com or call me at 519-986-1323. Thanks, Seann
