From The Race Director
To all CASC Race Ontario Competitors

This is urgent

Timing Transponders for the 2003 racing season.

Here is the deal short and sweet,

AMB and I have worked a deal to make the transition to, and implementation of a transponder timing system as smooth and financially bearable as possible to you the competitor, and to CASC.

Single direct powered transponder units will be available to you for US $ 221 (retail US $ 260) through CASC only, for a limited time.

To be able to come up with a reasonable idea of who wants to purchase and who wants to rent a transponder I need your response as soon as possible (15.DEC 2002).

Here are your choices to purchase a unit:

Buy outright US $221.00 plus Taxes before 1 April 2003

Rent to buy, two instalments at US $ 120.00 each plus Taxes (April 26/27 and May 10/11 weekend only)

Buy outright after April 1, 2003 US $ 240.00 (only until June 1, 2003)

Buy outright after June 1, 2003 US $ 260.00

CASC will have a small limited amount of transponders available at each event for rental purpose. These are rented out on are first come first serve basis. The idea here is that every competitor owns his transponder.

Rental charge per weekend will be Can $ $ 80.00

Late return Charges $ 100.00

Damage / loss charges $ 500.00

Rental charges will not be credited against a transponder purchase at a later time.

Transponders will be mandatory in 2003

This AMB TransX260 system is used by many motorsport organizations all over the world. If you already own a TransX260 transponder then you’re home free.

AMB provides a warranty of 4 years on all parts of the system including the transponders. An additional warranty of up to 8 years (!) can be purchased from AMB at a very low price.

The original email includes a form for competitors to fill out and return to the CASC-OR or Gunter directly. I trust that it shall appear on their website forthwith.

andrew1984, that is for the Regional road racing, not SOLO 1.

CS is just pointing out the cost involved with going to such a system.
