if i wanted to rebuild my own shocks (regardless of brand)

aside from obtaining a shock dynometer, what would be the necessary steps or procedures

it seems the WWW is really shitty with giving me the answers i need, are there books on this sort of thing?

TIA.

Not sure it's worth it ... people do this for about $90 a shock. You'd need the oil, some measuing tools (graduated cylinder, etc.) ... a nitrogen tank (assuming it is a gas shock). Are the shocks even servicable? Some are just seald, with not much to be done.

Peter at http://www.motorsport-dist.com is local, and rebuilds some struts; mainly the Hot Bits he sells. If you throw enough money his way he might consider yours.

Porsche OEM or aftermarket coilies?

just OEM.

see the thing is i had a guy down at the states who could take any shock and do some magic to it (for an extreamly small fee, well, as a friend) and pretty much make them infinietly rebound and compression adjustable

giving you a set of 4 shocks for under a grand equivalent to something used on a WRC car.

except he can no longer help me out due to work ethics (long and mystery shrouded story)

so now i'm thinking of taking off where he left off and learning myself what makes "a shock a shock" you know. For the racing season i'll just buy some premade shocks

this is just for my own little experiment :D

Unless, of course, it takes twenty years or so as I don't think I'll be racing from a wheelchair.
