Hi,

I'm the president of LAPS Solo 1 in Quebec. I'm making our 2003 calendar this week. I would be interested in inviting Solo Ontario's Solo 1 competitors to one of our events in 2003. To do so, I would have to have a date on our calendar that coincides with a big hole in your calendar (like June 21-22, for example).

If there is any interest on your side, I will gladly hold an event that weekend. I would like to know if any of you would come out for such an event. We would waive all membership requirements for your members and you would pay the same price as our licensed members (should be 80$ per day like last year).

Also, would you guys prefer to come out to a Saturday-Sunday double-header, or simply a single Saturday or single Sunday? The track I have in mind is Sanair www.sanairacing.com
It's about 40 minutes southeast of Montreal. Actually, they have two tracks and we could run one each day (one is a neat trioval where we run part of the infield, like a mini-daytona road race circuit).

Let me know what you think.

Of course, you guys are eligible and invited to all our events, but I can't guarantee they don't conflict with yours. That's why I need to know if anyone is seriously interested in coming out here.

Thanks

depending on the day(s) it could be a good trip....

I am very interested in that plan!

It would be AWESOME to try a new track AND see some new cars too!

Given the 6 hour drive to Montreal, I would like to see the event run over 2 days.

How much track time could we expect?

Cheers

Jay

Well, we're trying a new format next year. Instead of 4 sessions of 4 laps (4 laps = 5 laps with 1/2 lap warmup + 4 hot laps + 1/2 lap cool down) with 10 min of warmup at the beginning of the day and sometimes funlaps at the end, we're moving to a system of 2 untimed 20 minute sessions per driver in the morning and 2 4-lap timed sessions in the afternoon, plus funlaps if time allows (at Sanair, time usually allows as we have the track until dark if we want it). As you may know, in Quebec, it's your best 4-lap block that counts, not your best single lap. So consistency is rewarded. Post any further questions if you have any.

I would really love a two day weekend at Sanair.
Paticipated in a Laps event at St.Eustache about 4 years ago and it remains as one of my favourite events.

Also like the new format you are planning, lots of track time to get set up for competition.

So yeah! I am all over this one.
Thanks for thinking about the Ontario solo contingent.

I attended the last Quebec event in 2000 - and although there were only a dozen or so of us from Ontario - It was a blast and one of the highlights of my season.

Would love to return and even though my schedule is very busy with regional racing - I would do everything I could to attend and I think June 21 would work!

All the best

A bunch of us (myself included) attended a LAPS event a couple of years ago back at Blainville and we had a great time. It was a very well run event and a great chance to try out some different tracks and meet some other racers.

I would love to come out and participate in some events in Quebec. In fact, I was planning to do so in 2002. What kept me away however, was driving 6 hours there and 6 hours back just to compete on a single day.

If you can hook up a double-header weekend (Saturday and Sunday) then I would love to come out!

I too would be interested in a double header weekend at Sanair or St. Eustache. Thanks for thinking of us, Vincent! :)

Still working on it, I'll keep you all posted. It won't be June 21-22, conflict with local Solo 2 championship. Possibly the following weekend. It should be decided this week (I'm consulting the board members).

Thanks for the invite!

A 2 day event would be great. Count me in.

Hey - as Ontario Registrar, I'd be happy to get you guys out for some of our events. Shannonville wouldn't be too far.

Feel free to post your schedule here!
