View Full Version : How many regional solo II events do you want for 2007?
I get the impression some people may have changed their opinions, so a more current poll is on order. Considering the calendar how many would you attend?

I don't see a slot for more than 10 events so I just checked 10 :D

Wes has said that he wants the series to remain as a sample of all the clubs participating in the province. If the SCCA can have their National Tour, I believe Wes's goal is to have an Ontario Tour.
I hear there's 11 clubs interested for '07, so there should be 11 events.
I thought Wes said there were two less clubs running regionals for 2007?

There were also reps from BARC and BMW clubs there, presumably because they are interested in participating.
11 is the number I heard.

there is a helluva difference between SCCA National tour that covers an entire nation and the possibilty of a tour that covers a whole province.
IMO it is not because a club exists that it is entitled to a championship round of any kind. Clubs should have to earn the right to host an event of greater status than their own club event. If the clubs organisation , venue or date is not good....this will reflect on the whole series.
When the supply exceeds the demand.....is it a good thing?

If 5% of the solo2 community visit this forum, 39 votes would mean there are almost 800 competitors in the province.

I guarantee you that people who aren't planning on running the series, or those who haven't run in the past, but would be interested in running have voted... but i agree, i'm sure it's more than 5% of current participants.

That's what sucks about these polls. There is no accountability of who voted for what. If this were in a section for CASC member clubs, or if clubs were asked for their feedback, then we can collectively supply the director with "Relevant Votes".
Anonymity of the polls, makes it difficult for verifying accuracy.
(analogy)
There's no one at the door checking our credentials prior to voting.
my .02 cents.

That's a good point, Joe.
Not from the angle that one person's opinion has different weight than another's, but from the point of view that my vote, for example, would mean less than others since I haven't been an AutoSlalom competitor.
FYI, when a user creates a poll, they have the choice to make it a public poll where the voters can be seen. We can't change it after the fact, and we can't force all polls to be public (which we would like to do).
If you want to see what a public poll looks like, go to the Testing forum (at the bottom of the list of forums) - there's one there. Click on the number of votes in the column on the right to see who voted each way.
However, we CAN see who voted through the forum control panel, and we may decide at some point to publish that information if we think it would be appropriate.

It's funny I was just pm'ing people about recreating a poll where we could see the results.
