VARAC has announced that this year's Vintage Festival will see a celebration of the first F1 Canadian Grand Prix held at Mosport 40 years ago. What an exciting opportunity to see historic grand prix cars on the track that was a favorite of the top drivers of the period! VARAC also announced that Wallie Branston will be back to act as Honorary Starter for the race. Wallie was the starter at Mosport for all professional races for over 15 including waving the green flag to pole sitter Jack Brabham in that historic first grand prix. There will be displays of pictures & other memorabilia on display from the original race. One driver in that race has already said he would be at this year's event as well as other participants to share their memories. Add to that 200 vintage, historic & G70 cars plus a car show...the weekend of June 22-24 should be a fantastic weekend for anyone who loves racing!

No, I am not pulling your chain!
Here is the press release that went out to Vintage magazines & owners of Historic GP cars. I believe this is a result of contact between some of the owners, Bob Harrington & the Varac executive. While you & I are anxious to see the vintage GP cars at Mosport so to are the owners of these cars! There are 6-8 within easy driving distance & for the others, take a look at the HGP schedule on their website.

" VARAC TO CELEBRATE THE FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY

OF FORMULA ONE IN CANADA

The first Canadian Grand Prix was held at Mosport Park August 27, 1967. To
celebrate that historic occasion VARAC will be hosting a Formula One reunion as the feature of their 28th Annual Vintage Racing Festival June 22-24, 2007.

A number of Historic Formula One cars have already expressed an interest in
taking part, and it is anticipated that at least two of the drivers from that
first race will be in attendance. In addition to the Formula One cars and
drivers, officials, workers, and the drivers of cars from the 1967 support races
will all be taking part . A display marquee will be set up displaying posters,
programs, photographs and other memorabilia from that first race. It will also
be a focal point where people can meet, renew acquaintances, and rehash old stories.

In "The Day" Mosport was one of the favorite tracks on the Grand Prix circuit
and is only one of two tracks to host not only Formula One, but Indy Cars, FIA World Endurance Championship events, and Can-Am Races. For the present owners of the Historic Formula One cars this is a "don't miss" opportunity, especially when you consider that two weeks after the Mosport event the Historic Grand Prix cars will be at Watkins Glen and a week later at Mont Tremblant. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive these cars on three of the most historic F1 circuits in North America in the space of a month."

Having been around Mosport from the beginning & having witnessed the '67 GP, I am excited about seeing the cars of that era & later on Mosport.

Oh man i just got a tingle and goosebumps.. i think you made my night. I saw the historics run at Indianapolis with only a couple 60s entries and man what a sound. I can't forget the Flat 12 of Bud Moeller's (http://www.historicgrandprix.com/Drivers/Bud%20Moeller.htm) Ferrari 312 T5 being warmed up.

Can't Wait!

Are you going to give us any hints as to which driver(s) have said they will be at the event? (initials would be fine):)
