2 ice racers for sale

I'd like to sell my tercel and Lisas accent, both currently used in SS2 but either would make good rubber to ice cars as well.

The Tercel,I hunted this car down...its a 1995 base coupe with a 4 speed manual.

New parts include, brake rotors and drums, pads and shoes, calipers, wheel cylinders and all related hardware, brake lines front to back, front and rear shocks and struts converted to coilovers all around, roller bearings under the front springs, koni conical upper spring seats, camber plates, perfect condition JDM engine swap combined with complete wiring harness and ECU from a paseo, new clutch and pressure plate, plugs, cap and rotor, wires, exhaust header, intake including a nice 6" bell mouth ventury complete with open element filter, inline Volvo fuel pump, battery, fog and brake lights

Modifications include, lexan windows everywhere except windshield, lexan trunk, welded diff,3 gallon fuel tank and aluminum enclosure, coil springs and alignments, custom antilift spacers.Probably a fair bit more but I'm drawing a blank.:)

Chassis is quite good and oil sprayed again this fall, weighed it at 1701lbs with fuel but heavy steel wheels.

Car won the SS2 title its debut season, currently leading class and SS overall this season.

Pricing can be worked out with SS tires,I have 4 pairs I will consider selling. It will come with 4 steel wheels and rubber to move it around on.Also have a spare 5 speed transmission included along with a pair of axles.

I have at least 3k into the car,a bit nutty but that's what it takes to have a dead reliable car capable of running at the front.

Asking $1500 but open to offers.

The Accent,2003 2 door hatch with the larger 1.6 twin cam engine.

New parts include rotors, drums, pads and shoes, brake lines front to back, new drivers side cv shaft, plugs and wires.

Car will come with 4 steel wheels and tires and 4 13" aluminum wheels and I think I have the set of 4 factory 14" aluminum wheels.

Same deal for this car regarding SS tires,I have some options to offer.

Car runs like a champ,I think its a welded diff and a little further lightening away from being a constant front runner. The car won races and the SS rookie of the yr title for the previous owner.

Asking $500.

The tercel has to remain mine until the season ends but the accent could change hands sooner.

Thanks for looking.

Oh my, Mr. Smith - what are you up to now?

Do i see a SX4 / SS on the horizon?

anyone not familiar with quality of build Mr Smith puts into his cars will not realise what a steal this is !!! WOW

Yes I'll be going back to SS4 to chase Andriy's tercel.

I intend to use a Suzuki Aerio mostly because they are 4x100 and all my light13" wheels should fit one without adapters etc.

Doubt I'll get one down to the weight of the tercel and their UGLY and Auto trans only.....jeesh I'm really shooting myself in the foot here.:)

I have a couple turbos on the shelf,if I find time maybe one will find its way onto an Aerio after the 1st shakedown season,I'm allowed in the rules to do it so no protests allowed.;)

If that's not enough I have a couple VERY big wings kicking around still....

No interest in either car yet,not surprised with typical ice racers being thrifty AND waiting until the 1st week of January to think about getting a car together.:)

Yes - I ended up mounting my 14" tires on trailer rims and still had to use spacers at the front to clear the SX4 calipers.

The Aerio AWD is viscous (with a somewhat high number of reported failures AFAIK). But no messing around with computer-controlled coupler. Pity no manual.

Great. Hopefully Nuno will make his Suzuki work as well :)

Think its possible to open the case and weld the plates in the viscous coupler?.

Not really much to go wrong with a viscous diff, wonder whats failing?.

I like the '05 and newer 2.3 engine and from what I can tell the auto is more than fast enough in 2nd gear to run the entire track without shifting.I need to test run one of them to see if it has an effective 2nd gear lockout with the shifter in 2nd.

I suck with anything electronic so I'd prefer to not mess with the SX4 electronic rear diff.If I do decide to use an SX4 I'd come up with a way to mechanically lock the center diff instead of playing with electron voodoo.

Wearing out. A few years ago we opened one from a Cosworth Escort and put new VC fluid in (sourced from California, but quite expensive, dunno if there are other sources now). It worked, despite the unit apparently not being 'servicable'.

I think the VC on the Aerio is just in-line between two prop shafts? If that's the case maybe you could just eliminate it by making one prop shaft. Or even fit some sort of rubber coupling between the two prop shafts to take up some shock and vibration - like VW Synchro.

Re: 2 ice racers for sale

My google foo is weak, pics of the transfer case looks like it is probably just that and doesn't house the VC based on its shape.

Can't find a picture of the complete rear driveshaft so maybe I'm wrong.I wouldn't bother trying anything other than eliminating or making the center diff locked up.

Of course I could really use money from the sale of these cars to buy something else.;)

Re: 2 ice racers for sale

One of the reasons why Tercel 4WD is so fast is that it has hard lock between front and rear. So if i had a car with center diff, i'd find a way to lock it permanently.

Re: 2 ice racers for sale

Yes the corolla I ran had the center diff locked as was the
monster geo.

Both worked pretty ok.;)

After a ton of reserch we were going to lock the center diff on the celica at one point too. Even went to the efforts to pull the eng / trans and removed viscous center diff but for some reason we got cold feet.

IMO it would be the best of both worlds.
