Re: Results

As a fan of the series, it's tough to follow all that has happened. The lap times seem so quick that it seems odd this series doesn't get more social media attention.

So is Kyle champion this...

Re: Sad news - Joe Smiley

Always enjoyed seeing Joe and his full of personality corvette at time attack events. Never did get a chance to tell him that I found his participation inspirational. Perhaps he knows now.

Re: Some interesting changes for 2015

I'll ask the question so no confusion may remain, if someone does 4 events, and the last event, will they have done the 6 out of 9 required?

Last event could still make a difference, just...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Thought this was an interesting vid, I wonder if the tire statement is true.

Re: Quick Rule Question

This would be fair if there were 3 categories of suspensions like there are tires and we were debating which category to put a certain damper. So I don't think this Maxxis issue strictly falls under...

Re: ballast in stock classes

I think the difference between a full and empty tank can make a 1% cg shift. I forget if hitches are illegal but every little bit helps. Bolt on some solid subframe connectors too while you're at it.

Re: ballast in stock classes

Considering passengers are generally relatively high CG, it would probably just be a lot better adjusting your F/R bias with your gas tank.

Adding ballast outside of what's clearly stated in the...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Isn't it the opposite, if you don't pip for weight loss, you have to increase HI. I'd suggest raising the HI of the mclaren, not decreasing the gtr. Why wouldn't you go that route?

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Nice post Dave, but something about the GtR threw me off :).

I would counter the weight of the gtr, and raise you torque vectoring and awd.

Edit, not to mention if the car dumped weight, it's...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Erik, how would you address point 1? Cars have been getting whacked from the deviance of a stock vehicle. If light weighting becomes the new norm in optimization, you will have no reasonable point to...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Fair enough, and influence is a part of life. It's good to be reminded of the wrong decisions so they are not repeated. However, let not these points detract from my actual message of classifying...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

I have a few gripes about how not pipping lightweighting is attributed to people not optimizing.

So...who's going to splurge this year? This would be sick even with a 150HI lol.

Re: Brakes upgrade

Bingo. You could also lighten the car up a bit, that helps. Anyone mention venting air at the rotors, maybe your mustang has that?

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Are you saying there is a code by which competitors compete? I.e., no one is going to come optimized and run over that class and risk looking down upon? I'm not arguing, I'm curious. Do these classes...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

The performance gain to price ratio is sort of important when comparing dampers and power. I would imagine 90% of any performance gain for time attack applications can be had for $4000 for dampers. ...

Re: Mod Classing Issue

Building engines for race cars probably a profitable business, especially if you're the best. Maybe the owners didn't know, until they zoomed by people on the straight.

Re: Mod Classing Issue

That is dissapointing, wow. Cheaters going to be present anywhere you go though, then it becomes a culture, like tour De France. Glad this series doesn't have that, or does it, cue suspense music.

Re: Mod Classing Issue

Spec cars should be put in as anchor points for all other cars to be plotted in between. Hope you get your car classified correctly Scott. I would propose the same for spec miatas.

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Not to mention larger cars can usually fit more tire on, bringing the handling differences closer on a smoother track.

I wonder what speed aero starts really affecting drag...160?

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

Hence my offer, as I won't be competing. Aside from the logistical problem of keeping track whose run is on whose gps, and making sure they are all kept charged, if an oddity were to be found, like...

Re: Suggestions for rule changes for 2015

NASA TT is really good. There is exactly a one class differential between an e36 328, a sn95 mustang gt, and an ap1 s2k, with ap2 s2k slightly higher rated. We have it as 58, 65, and 68 approx.
