Re: Convertible roll bars question

I re-read that rule again, you are correct good sir.

I have put forth the question to the OTAO to confirm intent and possibly correct the rules.

Re: Convertible roll bars question

Hi thatCamden!

I can relate since I have a convertible and have been doing OTA for the last couple of years (hilarious story about me almost getting in three years ago) but I went through the same...

Re: Rule Changes for 2019

Walter, official documents from MyLaps says that the transponder should be mounted less than two feet off the ground. This could be your front bumper, rear bumper, side door, etc. I would suggest you...

Re: Rule Changes for 2019

MyLaps and the X2 Transponders. With this, you can pretty much participate in any North American race event not just OTA.

Re: What I Learned (WIL) at the OTA Shootout

Glad to know the event went well!

Always happy to keep the spirit of OTA alive. The broken hardware thankfully wasn't a major issue and was easily solved with good old fashioned pen and paper....

Re: OTA Shootout update

$150 is a crazy good deal for DDT. At $80 for the OTA folks, its even better!

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there again!

Cheers.

WIL: OTA weekend at SMP

Since Gary hasn't started the thread yet, figured I would. Here goes:

Re: 20Hz GPS BT receiver

My laptimes from Mike's unit were within 0.0x of the OTA's recorded time. For the morning sessions and for the competition sessions. Even in the rain.

Re: 20Hz GPS BT receiver

At $595 (CAD or USD?) that's very expensive compared to what Mike is putting together. Yes, more 'professional looking' but Mike's unit does the same thing plus the app of your choice.

Re: 20Hz GPS BT receiver

I've heard about the 5Hz trick as well but with a lower sampling rate and autocross, it can still lead to inherently choppy data given us cone-dodgers change location in a short span so quickly. I...

Re: 20Hz GPS BT receiver

Folks, I am the one who borrowed Mike's 20Hz GPS receiver to test at SMP event #5 and #6 and I can vouch about how well this unit works with RaceChrono (my app of choice). I don't see why it wouldn't...

Didn't know of this website! I knew about firewood so I don't usually bring it with me.

Re: WIL: OTA weekend at the GP Track

1. Timing and racing at the same time is difficult at times and a total rushed-job at others. Everyone will be happy to know I'll be focusing after the 2018 season to revamp and bring in improvements...

Re: OTA CTMP-GP Photos

Both. I worked 2004, 2005 and then again in 2008.

We had issues with insurance where they were strangling us for allowing spectators to get that close.

In 2003 the Sprongls crashed their Evo...

Re: OTA CTMP-GP Photos

WTF? I was a safety marshal back in 2004 at the Pines and we clamped down on this kind of closeness to the course. I haven't volunteered since 2008 but I didn't know they actually loosened the...

Re: OTA CTMP-GP Photos

Oh on that topic, I should lend you my "Rally Cars" book - the blurbs from the engineers from that era were scary-hilarious.

Not verbatim but along the lines of "It used to be crazy myth that...
