Re: WIL: DDT Weekend

Finally got around to looking at the Aim Solo data from this year, last year and the year before so here goes:

1) It is very disappointing to go slower in each subsequent year i.e. 1.5 seconds...

Re: Brakes went weirder

Yes, putting a proportioning valve downstream of the ABS box worked very well on my 4 th gen Camaro and eliminated 95% of the rear axle hop. The car stood on its nose under heavy braking but was easy...

Re: What you need to know for Events 2 and 3

No, the one tech sheet works for both days. Assuming you don't make any significant off track excursions, you should only need to be teched once for the weekend.

BTW, the weather looks good so at...

More stuff:

Windshield banners and door cards will be available for those who haven't picked up theirs yet.

Also bring at least one copy of your approved PIP schedule (preferably two)

Don't...

Re: Requests for Base Car list updates here

For a real PI( performance index ) we need curb wgt and OEM crank hp. Also are there any differences suspension wise from this car and the other 2018s?. T

Re: Registration for 2018 OTA Events

This event is being organized by OMSC. We hope to use the lower west side kink on Saturday as well as the kink at the east end of the top straight. On Sunday we hope to remove the lower west side...

Re: Racing Schools

Are your interested parties looking for race schools or track schools?

If it is a track school, few are better than the OTA schools at the DDT and Mosport.

Re: Protruding wheels and associated PIPs

The purpose of fender flares is to cover the tire so it is either 2 PIPs for flares or 2 pips for tires that stick out more than the fender. It is possible then to actually have to take 4 PIPs if...

Rule Changes for 2018

Every year the CCC and Ontario Time-Attack Organizers (OTAO) try to assess the existing rules and keep the competition as close as we can.

There has been some concern about the "drift" of what is...

Re: Brake Pads

Try Raybestos ST43. They are more expensive than the G/loc Carbotechs but last longer and IMO have better pedal feel.

Re: Time Attack Workshop for 2018

The organizing group still needs to finalize a few details (and vote on a few). We aim to have things set for Jan 1.

Re: Suspension pipe - sway bar

You are fine with just 5.1.B.2 for any modification to the rear sway bar, either addition or removal

Re: Question about PIPs for suspension

In the interests of keeping the rule book simple (although some complain it is already too complicated) we assume that if you make a modification to your car that you do it well. Shocks are probably...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

It all comes out in the wash when a protest is filed. Sometimes the undeclared PIPs may be internal to an engine or tranny and not easily detectable by anything other than a dyno.

I have 2...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

Actually there are a lot of people both in and out of OTA that agree with statement 1. This is whole basis of why Chin motorsport does not have the restrictions that we do. Here is a quote from one...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

I think the issue can be expressed easily

1) most everyone agrees that a head on or frontal impact is more likely to happen than a roll over

2) head and neck restraints likely prevent...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

I think the whole issue revolves around relative risk as all motorsports carry risk. Even F1 drivers can die in competition despite the best safety devices in the racing world

I think most...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

Actually Scott, I believe NASA TT has passing during competition, something we have repeatedly avoided. Car to Car contact risk has to be much higher. I think our rules are much closer to HPDE than...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

The problem with the roll bar or cage decision is that in actual fact, we have very little evidence to go by other than anecdotal evidence. Kelly feels anecdotally that having a harness would have...

Re: Proposed Rule Changes for 2018

I expected the harness issue to be the biggest point of discussion.

I feel that a high speed frontal impact is far more likely than a rollover in my car (Corvette) and likely the structure is...
