Prep Points Question: SS

6.8. PREPARATION POINT SCHEDULE ?ESUPER STOCK, STREET PREPARED AND MODIFIED CATEGORY

Section E

2) Tubular headers or exhaust manifold other than OEM 2 pts.

Wes,
does this mean that I can install any header and exhaust manifold from Mazda without taking points?? That's how I interpet it..... What would yours and others (CAC/CASC-OR) rulings be????

OEM would be the manifold that originally came with the car. If it is from a different model or even trim level, it's 2 points

Should really say....
2) Tubular headers or exhaust manifold other than OE. 2 pts.

OE= Stock Original Equipment

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer...

These mean different things.....

Since it was brought up...my factory Five Cobra was originally built (by me) with tubular headers.

Do I claim the 2 pts.?

Also, do I have to claim the points for removal of convertible top since the car was not originally built with a top and one has not been added since construction?

Yeah I know. Cobras are a pain the A**, but I'm going to take a stab at D-Mod this year and need a little help.

Yep yellowhotshoe thats the beauty of running the mod classes,you can go nuts if you'd like.Wanna supercharge the FFR of yours-go ahead it won't make any difference to classing(but please don't,you already have nearly 2.5 times the hp I will )

Thanks Max...

From my limited Solo experience (and my personal life for that matter) its not the size...its how you control it

I think I'll have my hands full

So your saying you have small hands?

I'm looking forward to running in D-mod,should be interesting with bigger/higher hp cars and my little lightweight tossed in the mix.Compared to most in the series I have very little solo experience as well,rarely running more than 8 events a year.
There's another guy with a fiero that'll be trying the regional level this year,I think he'll be very much in the thick of things in D-mod.

In the CAC and CASC-OR rule books all references to OEM will read OE for 2005.
