Interesting. shortens the straight a bit. Mayhem first corner antics in the counter clockwise. Looks pretty narrow in that spot. :0.

Re: Something to discuss in the off season

Looks much more likely to roll a justy coming out onto the straight going clockwise.

I'm happy with the layout either way(or other alternatives, just want to slide around with other cars)and while it was amazing that we got 6 weekends in this year the narrow track after moving the banks wasn't much fun.A more open layout intially might allow more flexability later in the season if/when we find the dirt again.

Hey. I am just thinking the more corners the better.

Anything to keep Tim's V8 at the back.

If it was up to me we would be trying to figure out a way to go up and down the hill and use the baseball diamonds as part of the track.

Re: Something to discuss in the off season

Every corner is an opportunity to get my door destroyed.....again.But having said that I'm making no improvements in straightline speed(I expect to be slower up the front straight actually) to my car for next year but it should corner faster so bring on the turns.
My biggest problem is being held up by rwd'ers all the way from the exit of turn 1 out unto the front straight for most of the last half of the race,I'm fine with following but the 2nd place guy that catches up sees it as an excellant place to go 3 wide and screw with the rwd's race.

Ah, your car (and 4wd in general) being on the track with the RWD cars is another good subject. Why is it that all RWD races are 1 lap shorter than every other race again?

Re: Something to discuss in the off season

Shane as you know I try pretty hard to find ways to make the cars I run quicker,to do this I set goals and one goal for next year is to lap the entire awd field so their race is also a lap less. That likely means rwd will get 2 less laps per race.

Sorry in advance.

Again sorry,I'm all for giving rwd their own race btw-being paired up causes both classes plenty of drama for nothing.

And....while I consider passing rwd lappers an extra nuaunce that adds fun for the 4wd drivers, I feel badly for the rwd guys who get fewer laps for their registration fee than we do. To the extent that when possible I will not pass an rwd to end his race unless there is pressure to do so from my awd competitors. A lesson learned from watching Shane.

On a good day(for me)I'm catching rwd's as early as lap 4 which means they are still running 2 or more in a bunch and I can't really drive around behind for 3/4's of lap but I try pretty hard to not dive into a rwd battle if I can wait untill the front strait.

Secondly, we will be getting rid of a lot of paddock space that we need, and the fact that the first pic was taken a while back does not reflect on how the track looked for the last two seasons.

If, however, you have access to some recent aerial pics let me know, coz I have to do a major presentation to a new sponsor in the near future.

Just a spike in your tire!

Re: Something to discuss in the off season

Welcome back Andy. I was wondering why you hadn't chimed in on this thread.

I though about the paddock space when I was trying to find room to kink the straight and in my recollection that space isn't used that much. None of the racecars are parked there and at most it has just been a couple of racers daily drivers. It was more of a general idea than a guideline. I just like the idea of more corners

The second point that came up is potentially far more important. Would there be a way to address the RWD and AWD combined races before the season starts? I think the addition of Tom's beast has made it more of an issue than it was in the past. It used to be that the fastest RWD cars could stay on the lead lap. Now 100% of the RWD cars end up at least a lap down and due to this, have significantly less laps over the course of the season than ANY other classes. The fields are large enough in the first driver SS classes to warrant splitting the field. I know that this would require combining 2 other separate races to make time, but surely we could find a way to do this without creating such an unfair situation as exists right now.

This was brought up at the spring drivers meeting by Tom P for multi finishes or chequereds but was shot down and defeated in his motion.
