Selling my 18' Alumina car trailer.
7000 pound capacity, custom build box with tire rack , solar panels, 3 industrial batteries and big 120 volt inverter, and winch, and back up camera. Way too much trailer for my 1000 pound formula cars. $5500.00 w-905-629-1438 h-416-621-1719 dave |

The ad says the bare trailer is 1350 pounds, up here these go for considerably more after duty, taxes and transportation. Last edited by TriumphTR7; 08-19-2012 at 11:40 AM. |

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
I don't think there's any duty on car trailers, and the taxes would be the same either way.

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
Not for the last 2 years buddy. HST on everything now. Yes, RIV applies, but there is no duty on US trailers.

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
Well that's something, I haven't bought a used vehicle in the last two years, I better start scanning the ads...
Thanks Paul |

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
Importing a trailer is RIV at the boarder along with the federal part of the HST (basically the GST) You then pay the balance (PST) when you register the trailer at the MTO

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
Anyone know what a comparable all-steel trailer would weigh for comparison's sake?
This is certainly a very nice & clean looking trailer. Side entry into the storage area also looks well thought out. Is the purpose of that assembly on top of the storage area to help manage airflow over the rest of the trailer & it's cargo? |

2210 pounds according to this site You can find lighter steel trailers but not comparable to the one on sale here, as with open decks and no add-ons. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT 1451 pounds advertised |

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
My mistake, I thought it was 2510.
I wouldn't put a stolen car on that ebay trailer. The uhaul is a good representative of a solid, bare flat top made out of steel. |

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
This is the one I'm comparing it to.
https://www.trailex.com/CT-7031.cfm I'm trying to get the total weight (car and trailer) to <3500 lbs. With the trailer weight at 835#, that leaves me 2600 for the car. I realize there's typically more "stuff" to go with the car, but this is basically for transporting the car occasionally, as I plan to leave it at the track and only move it for servicing. |

Re: 18' Aluminum Trailer
Just a caution to check the owners manual of the tow vehicle that you are planning to use. I had a 2004 Caravan and was planning to haul my Trailex 7031 and TR8 weighing about 2500. The owners manual required use of a weight distributing hitch for trailers over 2000. The Trailex will not take a weight distributing hitch, I have asked the company and they said that it would tear the front of the trailer off. That was part of the reason for selling my Trailex last year.
