Post Event 3 - Results posted - TLMC - Barrie Molson Centre

The third round of the 2015 Mobil1 Championship Series presented by Toyo Tires took place this past weekend (July 19th) at the Molson Centre in Barrie.

Congratulations again to Barry G, who managed to win his second event in a row, and in quick too - he was top on both the PAX and FTD lists. Daniel F (FTD) and Val D (PAX) were runners up.

See the full set of results here (It now includes the overall and class results too.)

If you happen to see any issues with the results, send me a pm or an email, and I'll look into it.

Join us August 8th and 9th for the fourth and fifth events of the series, back again at the Barrie Molson Centre. Registration for these, and the remaining events of the season: casc.motorsportreg.com

I was particularly impressed with Arris' abilities to hold back the storm until exactly the point everything was all done.

I won't be at the next two events, so you better hope Steven's powers are as strong as mine.

Well, almost!
I could have used 5 more minutes to get my trailer all buttoned up.

Darcy and I drove across the street to the gas station with our tires just sitting on the trailers and then pulled in under the canopy to get out of the rain so we could strap them down for the trip home.

Great job, TLMC!
I'm looking forward to August 8th and 9th!

Re: Event 3 - Results posted - TLMC - Barrie Molson Centre

So I left early this weekend because I was having a tantrum about my car being so out of sorts without the front sway bar <insert racing excuse here>.

Turns out that (despite having had an alignment the day before) the toe-in on the rear wheels was a total of 1.5 inches. I had asked for a total of 1/8. Which is absurd, but if anything shouldn't have that made the back end more stable and less twitchy? Or was it so far gone that it was back to oversteer city? Suspension geometry escapes me.

1.5 inches total toe in?!

The AP2 nonCR tolerates 1/8 inch toe in for autocross. the AP1 prefers the 1/4 total toe in (which i've run for the past 4 years). CR's will tolerate nearly AP1 spec toe in.

More Toe OUT kills you by oversteering you into a tree backwards.

A big front bar helps tame oversteer and since you have a smaller bar on, i would expect more oversteer as the result as you noted. You could just disconnect one of the rear end links to help tame the oversteer until you have the new bar sorted out.

That 1.5 inch toe in will also give you abysmal tire wear on the outer portion...mmm, i think.

Suspension alignment is a bit of a black art and the arm chair quarterbacks have their opinions- like mine above. However, Rob Robinette has an excellent site for s2000 alignment discussions.
