There is always SOME noise restriction at Calabogie. There are measurements taken in the community throughout the weekend. It's higher than usual on a race weekend, but still not un-restricted.

I am planning to bring both the loud pipe (which I've acquired since WGI) and my regular muffler (which passes easily).

I'll bring extra mufflers that I have in case anyone gets in a bad way.

I'll be replacing my loud exhaust with a unit fitted with a muffler for Calabogie in the hopes of not disturbing the wildlife One of the perks of having an exhaust fabrication supplier as a sponsor are multiple exhausts. Thank you Vibrant Performance for the awesome products and support.

Check out their stuff at www.vibrantperformance.com

Now back to your regularly scheduled banter...

I tried to get Fig Newton sponsorship for my visor but they went with a more flamboyant driver that pisses excellence

Re: Round 2 Radical Canada Cup - Calabogie - June 17-18

The clerk of the course has sent out some more information for drivers:

This weekend will be run using the latest CASC-OR rulebook (http://www.casc.on.ca/sites/default/..._may_2_1.3.pdf). There are a few differences from 2016 that I am sure you have already seen but I highlight in case there are entries from the US for example. There are some notes about our local procedures.

Yellow Flag
This year the rulebook follows the FIA rules for yellow flag zones. No passing until past the next flag station showing green after an incident. CASC-OR Race Regulations, Appendix H, Section 4.1.1.

Pitlane
During qualifying and race, the pit lane is an impound area until vehicles are released by officials (Race Director, Clerk, or Scrutineer). This is particularly important for qualifying. The intention is to allow the officials to validate that the qualifying times were set using a legal car before being released back to their paddock. CASC-OR Race Regulations, Appendix G, Section 1.1.

Starts
On Saturday, when we are running the Stadium Track configuration, we will be using the flag station at Turn 9A drivers left to display the green flag to start a race. The procedure is for the pace car to slow down to allow the field to form up starting at Turn 15 (target speed = 60kmph). Once the pace car pulls into the pits, the pole sitter must maintain that speed until the green is displayed at Turn 9A. The checkered flag, black flag and mechanical black flag (“meatball”), and the green flag for restarts (single file) will be displayed on the normal start tower on the pit straight. The reason for this procedure is to slow the entry over the hill at Turn 9A instead of arriving side-by-side at full race speeds.

I will ask the starter to show the green flag at Turn 9A when most of the field is visible (i.e. a ‘late green’). Instead of waving off a start, I would prefer to penalize a competitor jumping the start instead of penalizing the entire field with another pace lap. The race clock starts as the field passes the starter at Turn 9A after one pace lap even if the start is waved off.

For Sunday, when we are using the full track configuration, all starts and checkered flags will be at the start tower on pit straight. I will ask the starter to again show green once most of the field is around the last turn.

The flaggers will display their blue flags for the pace lap, and during the first lap of practice/qualifying.

Other
Whenever possible, we will give 5 minute, 3, 2, and 1 minute warnings on false grid.

We may dispatch service vehicles onto the track under a local yellow in order to quickly move a car to a safe location to allow racing to continue as quickly as possible.

On a restart from full-course yellow, we drop from double yellow a single yellow flag at all stations and the lights go out on the safety car around Turn 15.

We use a Last Lap board on the start tower to indicate last lap.

In case of thunderstorms, we need to move marshals off their stations to seek shelter when lightning is within a few kilometres of the circuit

Re: Round 2 Radical Canada Cup - Calabogie - June 17-18

Another awesome weekend of racing at Calabogie! We got lucky with the weather and there were some great battles on the track. Tyson has established himself as the man to beat this season picking up wins in Race 1 and Race 3. Congratulations to Dan who picked up his first win in the Radical Canada Cup in Race 2, I'm sure there are many more wins to come. The results are available on the Race Monitor website:
