I wasn't meaning to come across as condescending.

Your post clearly states "poor decision whatever the reason''. I was questioning how can you make that judgement, while appearing to not having communicated with Toyo regarding their size offerings or their discount structure.

If you've decided to use a different brand based on your "guessed" assumptions that's your decision. Best wishes finding the sizes you need.

Re: Toyo Tires Announcement and Sizing Poll

No worries Jud,the pricing program has been exactly the same since its introduction further back then I can remember.
As such a call from me has little chance of changing that.

Finding the size I and 80% of track day miata prefer to use is as easy as ordering toyos from the states or even Talon tire in Quebec. However they won't have the spiffy little maple leaf stamp on the sidewall to be contingency compliant.

Most decent track tires/street tires come in 225-45's so finding an option is just as easy.

I'm not stressed or going to bitch to toyo, they know(or at least they SHOULD) the target buyer.

I'm not even 100% sure my plans are for next summer yet, have 6 weekends of ice racing to keep me busy for immediate future.

Max Attack, this thread was created to see what people wanted for R-888-R sizes so I could advise what was needed for 2018 inventory. The comment about a lack of R-888-R in 225-45-15 was mentioned and requests for RA-1's in that size in lieu of 888 was relayed. It is the preferred sidewall for Miata use, as I understand. Thanks to the polite and positive communication of CASC-OR racers, the RA-1 was added to the street tire rule alongside the R-888-R

So although not exactly what you asked for, I am reiterating that RA-1 and RR are available in 225-45-15 through Canadian warehouses. If you wish to participate in the contingency program, I'm sure you'll see that no "stamp" was required in 2017. Any specified Toyo tire bought through a Canadian vendor was eligible. It should have your Team Toyo Racing # on the invoice.

The change to have the R-888-R, RA-1 and R1R as street tires means we'll likely have to reword the contingency program for 2018. Give me some time to do that, please.

Last year when I ordered them, they wouldn't ship from west coast until it was warm enough (so tires don't freeze in transit)...sometime late April or early May as I remember.
I had mine long before real test session track temperatures started; mid-April. They will not ship until forecasts are above 0 deg C. That may be early April or late depending on ambient temperatures.

Re: Toyo Tires Announcement and Sizing Poll

Thanks Stephen,I did wait weeks after the question regarding this size was asked.

Nothing was mentioned so I brought it up again.

Re: Toyo Tires Announcement and Sizing Poll

I assume we need to have the Toyo registration completed prior to ordering tires. How long does this normally take?

When the website is properly reporting the applications, less than two weeks. Start the process, and if you need to order right away, give me your Email I'll nudge them to process. Talon has done this for a bunch of SPDA members.

Register for Team Toyo with Ontario Time Attack as your discipline and you will get 40% off the list prices in this file. Check with your club to see if they have any other tire discounts for you.

Those are the 2017 prices, which will likely increase 2%-3% for 2018, so consider ordering early. Estimated date of price increase is roughly March 1st. You can order now and the tires will likely ship mid-April dependent on weather. They will keep them warm for you in a warehouse during the winter and won't ship in freezing temperatures.
The above table would be useful to include as part of the "2018 Toyo Tires Contingency Program" sticky.

Also Service de Pneus Lavoie Outaouais is not participating in the Toyo Competition program (I called).

It seems many have already found this page too, but here's the link to the Toyo Competition Tire List price. It would be useful to include this link in the sticky too, assuming it's correct. And assuming not everyone has bought their tires for 2018 already.
