Sad News - Ron Poth

I was deeply saddened to find out that long time CASC Steward Ron Poth passed away earlier this week.

POTH, Ronald Jowett 82, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 5, 2018. Born in Hamilton, Ontario to LeRoy and Ethel Poth, Ron lived most of his life in Toronto. Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynn Poth, his two sons: Michael of St. Louis, MO and Gary of Kitchener, ON; Michael's wife Chiori and Ron's grandchildren, Tomoki and Sean. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Ieva Fraser, their children: Samantha and Kyle, Samantha's husband Enzo Anile and children Nicco and Violet Anile. After a long career with the Ontario Ministry of Revenue, Ron managed his multi-generational family cottage rental business in Southwestern Ontario. His lifelong passion, however, was motor sports, where after starting as an amateur driver in the early 1960s, he became a member of the British Empire Motor Club and served for over 40 years as a volunteer official at auto racing events in Canada and the United States. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. at the Church of our Saviour, 1 Laurentide Dr., Toronto, ON M3A 3C6. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for friends to make a tribute donation to the North York General Hospital Foundation ( or a charity of your choice.
