Ontario Place
I saw in today's Toronto Star a blurb on turning Ontario Place into a F1 park.
Just build it already!!! 3 million people that are a TTC ride from a race track. And i can race at a regional 15 minutes from my house!! How cool would that be!!!! |

Re: Ontario Place
Pipe dream. Our friend at the Star is at it again.
![]() Funded by whom? Hopefully not by the public. Without the federal (keep QC in Canada bribery funding, along with PQ Provincial and local funding) there would be no F1 in Montreal. You'll never see federal funding here so your left with the mega costs of building the track leveraged all by Ontario and Toronto taxpayers - not to mention the yearly graft and corruption charges paid to Bernie. We already shamefully pay 3 million for the next three years to Indy Car for what? Voodoo entertainment numbers scratched upon a bar receipt by marketing people and handed over to the City Hall and Queens Park as if they are real numbers to be believed. Want to raise Toronto hotel occupancy rates from the near 80% level currently during the summer? Try Queens Park eliminating the hotel tax. Oh wait, lets paper over the cash grab by getting tourists to fund our fun and games and there by driving our uncompetitiveness with US destinations ever higher. The Gardner is falling apart; the city needs more police officers and most of the underground infrastructure dates back to an era when carburetors were new technology. Oh but were so high on funding the bank balance of a guy who's daughters are spending $25 million each to put roofs over their heads? If private enterprise wants to make money then private enterprise should FUND it - and they can keep all the profits too. I have no problem with that concept. I DO have an issue with taxpayers being shafted by Governments and Billionaires for very questionable and unproven benefits. (FYI: Montreal has a huge spending deficit despite the 'financial rewards' of the Grand Prix) When Governments world wide finally stop the flow of money to these corrupt banks who own F1 (and Bernie) then perhaps F1 will live within it's own means and the madness will stop. Same goes for the harebrained Fort Erie pipe dream. Gee, I don't see anyone giving CTMP hundreds of millions of dollars (hell, any amount) to fund their improvements. I guess they do it the old fashioned way - on their own. Perhaps Caesars Palace (or another group) who want to build a location in Toronto could fund a race and track construction? Oh wait...
