Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
Great shots indeed.
My question is- who owns the Group 44 IMSA GTP Jag though? I remember Steve Moore had the old XJS IMSA car but I think he sold it. |

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
Yes we still have the XJR-4 aka the Big Cat and I wouldve been out this past weekend but they put a restriction on G70 engine size for the event
![]() The XJR-5 is owned by Dean Baker |

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
Yea,
we know, a few of us had to run in the GT sprints........ ![]() It was fun, but interesting... ![]() Plus they will have the same in Sept, 2500 lbs and under in G70.

Quote:
An FB RX7 will be about 2100 lbs, which is only 400 lbs short of the limit, and 1st gen RX7s are not considered to be all that heavy. If VARAC is looking at weight limits (for safety/speed?), then rationally shouldn't they be at least 3000 lbs?

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
It is my understanding that is a CASC/Insurance company requirement after the photo made the rounds of a Galaxie chasing a FF. Because of the FFs, FVs, Lotus 7, Mallocks etc on the vintage grid nothing over 2500 lbs can run with us. Even the Vintage Mustangs etc. now have to run with the G70s at Ontario Regional events.

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
So G70 was running with the other vintage classes including open-wheel cars and that's why there's a restriction? I thought that all G70s run in their own class for racing.

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
To John Powell, because F1600 and F1200 were running last weekend and the GT Challenge race was 90 minutes, in order to provide a reasonable end of day time, there wasn't time in the schedule to have separate "Vintage" and G70+ sessions. A decision was made to run
restricted G70+with Vintage/Historic. Also there were sessions where Libre were combined with either F1600 or F1200. Organizing clubs are really in a bind between having enough race groups/entries to support the costs and getting the day finished at a reasonable time. So far there have been NO magic solutions but the various race groups are doing their part to help reduce the day length. See the thread about practice/qualifying sessions. DAVE KING |

Re: Photos from BARC Canada Day Grand Prix 2012
Thanks Dave, I see now that this was/is a due to time constraints at given events and not a usual procedure.
