Notes

1) Drivers meetings are mandatory for all drivers.

2) Drivers must be registered and cars scrutineered before proceeding on track for practice or competition.

3) Only people who have signed the track waiver and have a wrist band will be allowed in the paddock area. The paddock area will be separated by Yellow Caution tape.

4) All cars must be classified to compete before registration is complete. If you car requires classification please bring information about your car (i.e. your car’s curb weight, manufacturer’s listed horsepower and any modifications to your car). Classification committee members, Adam Hutchinson, James Mewett will be available at Registration in the morning of the events to classify your cars prior to registration.

5) All competitors MUST HAVE A PRINTED COPY OF THEIR CLASSIFICATION WITH THEM ALONG WITH SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING DYNO PLOTS WITH THE DECLARATION FORM, CURB WEIGHT DECLARATION FORMS, ALIGNMENT REPORTS (if claiming stock alignment on a modified suspension).

6) A classification that was approved in previous years is not automatically approved in 2008. Supporting documents must still be carried.

7) All cars are required to display the designated sponsor decals including the weekend sponsor.

8) Morning, Lunch and End of day open practice times may be adjusted according to time limitations

9) Saturday – Fabi track; During open practice runs, passing is allowed between corners 6 and 7 and between corners 9 and 1 (Fabi Straight). The car being passed must signal the following car to pass. All passes must be completed on the right side of the car being passed.

10) Sunday – Pro track; During open practice runs, passing is allowed between corners 5 and 6 (Fabi Straight), and on the front straight (between corners 11 and 1). The car being passed must signal the following car to pass. All passes must be completed on the right side of the car being passed.

11) For the morning Open Practice session best effort will be made to provide each competitor with at least one practice session. Competitors who have been on the track once or more during the morning open practice session will grid in a second line in the middle of the grid. Cars from this line will only be allowed on the track if there are no cars in the right side line in the grid area along the track wall.

12) To discourage competitors from cutting the curbing and dragging stones on to the track, pylons will be placed ON the stones (abutting the curbing) at the apexes. Competitors who knock over the pylons will receive a four-wheels-off penalty.

13) Maximum allowable noise level will be 95 db as requested by Shannonville for all cars except in Modified class which is 98db (Modified vehicles are not allowed on the track before 9:00am).

14) All competitors are expected to perform marshaling duties assigned by the Chief Marshall (Gerry Cornwell). Competitors who do not marshal will forfeit their times and scoring.

15) Marshall Safety: Marshals should never be sitting down. A lone marshal should always face traffic. If a station has only two marshals and both directions need to be watched, then the marshals should stand face to face so that they can be instantly alerted by the other marshal of impending danger.

16) Passengers under 18 years of age will not be allowed in cars during open practice or competition.

17) The governing regulations for this event are in the 2008 Ontario SoloSprint Regulations rulebook.

18) Competitors are reminded of the new rules requiring long sleeve shirts, long pants, socks and fully
enclosed shoes during competition.

19) The SMP Restaurant under new management will be open from 10:30am to 2:00pm both days.

20) To assist with information gathering in order to improve the future Car Classification process, at the Ontario Car Classification Committee's discretion a data acquisition device may be placed in random competitor vehicles at any point during the event weekend. Information attained during the weekend will be made available only to the sampled vehicle owner and at conclusion of the events the Car Classification Committee, unless otherwise authorized by the sampled competitor.

21) Unless otherwise specified at the drivers meeting and during competition runs. For Saturday's event, after receiving the checkered flag (or black flag) track exit will be through the end of Fabi straight (drag strip staging area). On Sunday, after receiving the checkered flag track exit will be at Fabi pit entry. Acting Course clerk may advise otherwise as necessary to facilitate smooth flow of on track activities.
  • Modified class vehicles with slick tires may request to use Nelson pit-in under pre-authorization from either the Event Organizer or Acting Course Clerk.

22) Additional supplementary regulations may be instituted based upon experiences during the weekend. Such additions or amendments will be clearly stated at the morning drivers' meetings.
