Differences between the SR4 and SR3??

Just wondering what the main differences are on these two models.
From what I can gather in Europe the SR3 seems to be the car of choice
for most of the series?

Re: Differences between the SR4 and SR3??

SR4 has been renamed the SR1. It's sold now as an "entry level" car in the UK, and can only be raced in their SR1 Cup rookie series.

There are two main differences: First, SR4 uses a chain drive rather than the Radical specific gear drive unit (i.e. no chain) that the SR3 uses. Second, the SR4 is a smaller car, both in track and wheelbase.

As you mentioned the SR3 is much more popular, both in Europe and in North America.

Re: Differences between the SR4 and SR3??

Well said Matt, The SR4 is an older model which was a development of the first very Radical. The Clubsport came out in 1997 then became the Prosport in 1999 and the SR4 in 2004 and finally the SR1 in 2012.

The SR3 was an all new model which came out in 2002. It's a larger car with better aero and a gear drive instead of having a chain.

You can't go wrong with any Radical but the cars have improved over the years.

Re: Differences between the SR4 and SR3??

When I was at the Factory they told me they sold maybe 2 SR4's a year.

That probably lead to the rebranding it as a SR1 and in turn the creation of the SR1 series.

Nothing is as pretty as a SR3/8 in my opinion.

Ron
