Heads up - 2003 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T Stolen in Whitby

I had posted this in the General Discussion but I frequent here more and was hoping some of the drivers in this area might keep an eye out in their travels or day to day driving.


Somewhere between 7am and 5pm while I was at work downtown today my 2003 Volkswagen GTI was stolen from the Whitby GO Station. The car is Reflex Silver in colour with 17" Monte Carlo wheels with factory bike racks and two VW Baracuda bike mounts ontop. The car sticks out like a sore thumb because of the bike racks as there's not many GTI's in the area with bike racks on them. The job was super clean, no shattered glass where I was parked, no evidence of forced entry with broken pieces laying around which leads me to believe it was lifted via a flat bed and somehow managed to avoid my factory security system, the immobiliser and my aftermarket security system.

If anyone happens to notice someone hocking a pair of Baracuda bike racks for a MK4 Golf/GTI could you please send me a PM on here? By the same token if there's anyone suddenly offloading 1.8T parts from a MK4 GTI or selling an Alpine IDA-X100 deck please let me know as well so I can follow-up with the Police.

Sucks that the car is gone, what sucks even more is I didn't get to install a single part yet that I wanted to and was going to order my new coil-overs next week

Yikes, was it at the dealership before it was stolen????

Yeah, I had taken it in 2 weeks before it was stolen to get the oil changed at OWASCO for my 80,000km service. I've always used them for my service even when I had my old red rocket 1.8T and never had a problem with them.
