Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

Does anybody know if TMP was subpoenaed? It is quite possible that the lawyers for the municipaility requestd it.

As much as you want to hurt TMP, doing this hurts SPDA more. They're trying hard to bring another series to Ontario, and so far doing really well. Boycott TMP lapping if you want, but make sure you're not indirectly hurting another organization thats actually working hard towards doing something positive for the racing community.

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

That's why I said "might not", plus the fact that TMP is close to me (less than 40 mins) is a real bonus vs going to DDT again which is 2+ hours.

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

Shame that ATTS rescheduled to the track that helped close down their first option... IMO.

Show me they were subpoenaed and I'll reconsider using their track.

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

Guys,

With regards to the ATTS, we're a victim just like everyone else is here. The Drag Day was scheduled way before any of this molarky started, and I ask you to continue with that event as it played no part with the Dunville cares campaign.

As we scrambled for a new venue, we found that all of them were booked, and it would have been difficult to find another one that could host the Touge. We were basically left with no choice but to move forward with the 'single' choice.

We have committments to the Competitors & Sponsors that make these things happen. Without them, there will be no startup series like this one. If we don't get the participation for the next 2 events due to circumstances beyond our control, this will be the only year that you'll see a semi pro event like this one.

I can understand putting pressure on us "FOR NEXT YEAR" not to use TMP, and we're ok with that, but don't penalize an innocent party (Team ATTS) for something we didn't do, please.

That's just my .02 cents, it's hard enough getting support for an event, let alone an event that gives away that much and charges so little.

Hope this helps.

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

After not reading anything about this before today and going through the whole thread, There's a ton of speculation good and bad, but also rage from two guys in particular (simmer down na boys).

TMP wasn't out to chop the head of Dunnville. If the guys at dunnville would have just tried more then a 1/2 ass attempt at working with the community and done something. Even as simple as a sound barrier and maybe like TMP had a time restrictions on when you can and can not be on the track decided on by the community they'd still be up and running. Of course thats just speculation for the 1,000,000,000th time in this thread.

In time i would hope a new owner/face of Dunnville will emerge and work with the community too start up again, but the longer they wait the harder it might get. Once again just my opinion

O and if theres a reason not to go to the ATTS it is because I'm going to mop the floor with you newbs! MUHAHAH (if the car isn't broken again)

let the trash talk begin!

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

To continue what Joe said, I personally spent a day making phone calls trying to figue out where to hold the event.

As it has been said before in this thread we don not have complete information in regards to what TMP said and/or did. However I will not allow the series that myself and many members of SPDA have put so much effort into created to be sidetracked by events such as this. We simply wanted to offer you guys another avenue in which to test you skills and have some fun (the great prizes don't hurt either). Since we were stuck this was our only option. We can and will review our options for next year when we have the luxury of time to pick and choose our veneus and dates.

I thank all of you for your understanding and can't wait to see you on the 26th!

Joe, I didn't mean to offend but I clearly see how I did. What I meant was, it was a shame that ATTS had no choice but TMP. My appologies.

Details of how Dunnville could have done more to stay alive aside - i'm unhappy with TMP for lending a hand in burying them.

No offence taken actually. I too am unhappy at the situation, as mentioned in a previous post, I'd be happy to lend a hand to Dunnville to get their track up and running again. No aplogies required, we're all passionate about what we do.

Wait... so we can't go to Dunnville and lap anymore... But can they just sell us $100 hot dogs and we'll "break onto" the closed track?

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

I'm not sure why a few of you guys are being so hard on TMP. If you were running a business and somebody else was running the same type of business but doing so without the proper permits in place and therefore creating bad relations with the community and with the political machinery, you'd be concerned too and you'd feel compelled to attend any "town hall" meetings since decisions made there could directly impact the operation and viability of your own business.

This ATTS Touge event sounds interesting. Kudos to the SPDA guys and their sponsors for putting it together. If the weather looks good, I'll be there! Too bad there's no mountain roads at TMP though

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

Dunnville management says that TMP did position themselves as the opposition prior to this court date as well.

I will not be at another TMP event this year... not CSCS, not SPDA or other.

I certainly won't boycott the groups that were forced to move events to TMP. They at least are not screwing their community members.

Fair business means beating your competition with service, product and pricing. Using politics is dirty. That deserves boycotting

Re: Dunnville Autodrome closed...

Showing your support of grassroot motorsports, by boycotting a new series' that either pre-booked with TMP or had no choice but to book with TMP in order to keep the event going, really proves your point.

It would make more sense if you made it well known to the organizers of these series' that for FUTURE events you will not support them, if they continue to support TMP. All the organizers are reading threads like these, they're not stupid. They'll take this all into account when planning next year. That at least puts the responsibility in the organizers hand so they could be proactive and find another track if they don't want to take a chance at pissing people off. Either way TMP gets their money for the track rental of anything that is pre-booked, so for those who intended to show up.. but are now deciding not to, you're just screwing the organizer. Way to make a stand.

And what about businesses that undercut their competitors' pricing by avoiding the costs of proper planning and permit approval processes in the communities in which they reside? Is that fair business practice? Does that kind of corporate behaviour promote a fair playing field on which to compete on an equal basis?

Regardless of how one feels about losing a track in Ontario, most of Dunnville Autodrome's woes were self-inflicted. TMP themselves were shut down for quite a long while because of running afoul of planning and permit processes. It's more than fair that TMP should expect their nearby competitors to comply with the same planning and permit approval processes that befell TMP. Anyone faulting them for expressing such is clearly missing that point.
