Mosport X-C Ski Park

Mosport X-C Ski Park

If you walk most places at Mosport you can see long neglected arrows pointed in various directions. Anyone know when Mosport stopped allowing X country skiing? The last mention of it I can find is 1980 on the Scarborough ski club site
Go to page 12 on the PDF Feb 2nd 1980

The modern website is here...

Re: Mosport X-C Ski Park

I X-Country skied there in 1983 - 84 time frame, if that is some help. It was an organized business, but the trails were not very good or maintained well.

Re: Mosport X-C Ski Park

Thanks for the info!

It being not maintained well, makes sense. My first trip ever to Mosport was in June of 86'. (Even then I noticed the arrows.) Don't know if they still allowed skiing at that point.Knowing now the financial situation of the track at the time was less than stellar. It is not too surprising the X-C skiing was poorly maintained .

To be honest. I would love to X-C Ski there now but am pretty sure it wouldn't be permitted. So much good terrain!

Most of what I ski now is back country stuff. No maintenence whatsoever.

Anyone else have any info?

Re: Mosport X-C Ski Park

About 10 years ago we tobogganed there around Christmas time. We have known Myles, the track manager, for many years and he works there most, if not all, winter. He had no problem with us enjoying ourselves in the snow at the track.

Call or email Myles and see what he says.

Hope this is of some help.

Re: Mosport X-C Ski Park

Going to have to try emailing him. I have a Hot Tent, and skis that need some trying out.

Before bringing them to a more remote location that is.

Just from walking access roads. I know that it will be a challenge for my meagre skills!
