My team and I are heading out to race at VIR this weekend on the South Course. Any tips and or hints in regards to this track? Its a full 24 hour event - we hope to survive the entire race if at all possible! We have a pretty experienced driver lineup.

Hopefully the car survives and then we can run at Shannonville in May..

I am sure many are hoping they could get out to a track this weekend. Looks like you will have good weather with temps in the high 20's. Take lots of fluids, good luck and have fun.

I think a local track should start a series like this,it would bring alot of new drivers into the sport that cannot nessessarily afford other types of racing. It looks like a lot of fun.

Well... we made it to VIR and back safely, what a track! To our surprise, a Stewart-Haas Racing rig and race trailer pulled in. Turns out Tony Stewart himself built a car to race with us "chumps". Tony had a 80's camaro, with #14 on the side and a big smoke logo on the roof.

SHR entered 3 cars, 2 of which expired, they even changed 2 motors and still those motors expired.. Tony's #14 Camaro was the only car left running!

It was a great weekend! Who knew Tony Stewart would show up?

We were running pretty well, that was until we blew a headgasket. We managed to make it 19 hours out of 24 and survived a small electrical fire and did managed to cross the finish line on our own power to a final position of 22nd overall. We had a blast!

Looking forward to Shannonville.. should be a blast.. need to make our car a little more reliable..

Noted Chumpcar rule changes for Shannonville --- from the site..

Supplemental Rules update for the Shannonville event:

Canadian Notations - Limited to Canadian events only:
1. CASC, CSCC or ASN-FIA licenses are accepted in lieu of SCCA/NASA competition licenses.
2. Fuel jugs in 5 U.S. or 5 Imperial gallons are acceptable.

Re: May 22/23 2010@Shannonville So you want to race cars, but you dont have alot of m

According to John Condren of Chumpcar, Chumpcar issues its own licenses that ALL competitors must have. Everyone regardless of what other license they hold has to pay the $50 extra for a Chumpcar license

When they say are accepting CASC, ASN licences etc, this is for the purpose of proving you arent a rookie who needs to pay another $25 for the Chumpcar Driving school.

The operations manager advises the entry deadline closes April 22 so there's still time!

Not sure on "who" they are putting out on the corners to keep everything safe and steady because neither CRCA or other CASC marshalls have been contracted And it's CRCA's home...

Hi Pat, I asked the same thing, they stated that they will be using marshalls who are "familiar" with the track, so I am assuming that they would utilize CRCA.. I will find out more details..
