Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Welcome to the 2010 Race Season Ladies and Gentlemen! I’m very excited to be back for a third year as the Chief Scrutineer for BEMC. We will be holding the Pre-Season Tech Day on April 17th, 2010 at 88 Ardelt Avenue in Kitchener. If it rains that day, we will delay the Tech Day to May 1, 2010. A map to the location can be found at:

http://tinyurl.com/yjocszy

Best directions: 401, exit 275 (Homer Watson Boulevard), proceed North towards Kitchener. Turn right at Hanson Avenue, and take your first left onto Ardelt Avenue. Brock Solutions is at 88 Ardelt, which should be on your right. The parking lot has a laneway that wraps around the building.

We will run tech from 10am to approximately 3pm, with a lunch break around 12pm. We can tech 8 cars during the morning, and another 12 cars in the afternoon. Please email me at colene.allen(at)yahoo.ca to advise if you will be coming in the morning or the afternoon, and what class of car you will be bringing.

Some procedures and reminders:
1. We are unable to issue log books for cars at this event. We will have application forms available if you wish to complete the form before the BEMC weekend. Even if you do not have a logbook, we can still tech your car.
2. Keep your tech sheet from the pre-season tech, and present it to a scrutineer at the BEMC weekend for "Express-Tech". Do not hand in pre-season tech sheets at Registration.
3. Please ensure you have your 3/16ths inch holes drilled in your Front Hoop, Main Hoop, and Rear Supplemental Brace of your rollcage to verify the numbers entered in your logbook. For those who have FIA/Factory paperwork, please bring that paperwork with you for inspection by a scrutineer.
4. Please ensure that your fuel cell vent line exhausts outside of your car. Vents that exhaust into the bodywork of the car will not be approved under any circumstances.
5. If you have a bolt in roll cage in your car, please advise me in advance, as there are additional checks to be made with these cars. This means we can set aside the proper amount of time to look over your car.
6. Please be sure to have your driver available with his/her helmet for a check on roll cage/roll hoop height this year. If the driver is not available on the tech day, I expect the driver and car to come see me during the BEMC weekend. I will have a list and be checking for each missing driver!!
7. SCCA Annual Techs approved after January 1/2010 will be accepted as will those completed in other Regions of Canada. If you desire an annual tech endorsement for SCCA Club Racing, Colene Allen is able to provide those to competitors that plan to compete in SCCA competition.
8. Please remember that your car must have a working engine and working brakes in order to be teched. I may decide I want to hear your engine start up just for fun
9. A donation is being requested for each car teched. You can either donate $15 cash/cheque to the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank which the scrutineer will collect, or you can bring a non-perishable food donation equal to at least $15 with you to the Pre-Season Tech.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. It is possible that we may run a Scrutineering School the same day, so please consider participating as a training guinea pig for our new learning scrutineers. We are trying to recruit new Scrutineers in order to increase our numbers, and that's a good thing for competitors

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Colene, As per a reply on a another thread regarding this event, as this is just down Ottawa from me do you need me to bring anything in the way of tools?
I only have a electric drill so the probly does not help but do have 2 3/16 metal bits and a assortment of other tools as you know I always have around just let me know.

As I have decided to take the school and I asked on the other thread if I brought Jo down and she needed to go home would you let me take her home and return. As you know we would need to take the bus.

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Hi Gary,

Don't worry about the tools, since you're coming by bus. I'm sure the competitors will remember to bring what they need (hint, hint)

As for the rest, I'm sure we can work something out. You may want to email Mike and chat with him about that.

Hi Andrew,

Just a pick of morning or afternoon, and I'll be happy to take care of your old car with its new owners

Hi Colene I live very close and can be there for 10am , 1989 Honda civic, being used in GT sprints /challenge/G-70 , has been teched before so shouldn't be a big time consumer!
let me know if this spot is open or i can just hang out for a bit but i understand space is limited
thanks Sean

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Hey Colene,

Remember the Tech day is alot closer to me this time (After all I am at Ottawa and Westmount) instead of way out by your place, so bringing a few wouldn't be so long of a trip. I will bring the drill bits just in case and a measureing tape and a mirror for looking at welds on roll bars hows that.

Ok I will email Mike I am sure he will understand. by the way do you have mike's email? I seem to have lost it.

Just email to me I know you should have my email. if not garypoth@gmail.com]

Thanks Gary

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Colene, I can be there at 1:00 for the afternoon tech session.

Also I can store the tires for as long as you like, no problem.

Thanks,

Jon

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Hi Colene - do you think we'll need access to electical power and/or a garden hose? It should be possible...I'll look into it if needed.

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Hi Gary,

That tool list works. You can reach Mike at scrutineer@mccubed.com.

Hi Steve,

We shouldn't need anything other than washroom access and a 10lb. Firebottle and working cell phone. The electricity may come in handy :-)

Colene :-)

Hi Gibby,

Morning is yours, no problem :-)

Hi Jon,

Got you for the afternoon. Thank you on the tires. We're about to put the draft lease into the Region this month and we're just waiting for a reply.

Also, Scott, got your message. You, Gary and Connor will be doing Scrutineer School :-)

Colene

Re: Kitchener Pre-Season Tech Day

Hi Colene,

Now that I have a tow vehicle again I will be there with the Vette for its annual. The Camaro is still a work in progress and likely won't be ready until later in June.

I can be there Saturday at 11:30 if that works for you. Let me know, I'm pretty flexible that day.

Thanks

Rob
